This is an OUTDATED remote

(2 out of 5) by John Bean on Mar 5, 2010 (San Diego, CA)
It worked pretty good when I bought it a couple of years ago. Apparently the manufacturer made there money and quit supporting this remote. It works for a lot of standard and older Windows programs but has no support for any programs made in the last 3 years. It looks like they are still selling this to make easy money but it has no support for newer programs. Good programs like J. River Media Center just give you a message that it is not supported. If you go to their web site you will find that no updates have been made to their software in 5 years.

Better hope it installs...

(1 out of 5) by Ian Carr on Feb 3, 2010
I have so far tried to install this remote on 3 computers with 3 operating systems (XP, vista, and 7). It simply does not work. I know a fair amount about hardware and software, maybe not enough to head an IT department, but certainly enough to get an entry level IT job. The directions are laughable. After you install from the CD (or with the updated software from online which I tried as well), it says to plug in your remote and allow Windows to automatically find/install the drivers.

Well I tried that. And I restarted and tried that. And I did it on other computers. Dozens of times. I also searched manually for the drivers, I scoured the internet, I looked through the CD, I tried to edit and manually install the drivers, I asked my even more technical computer programmer friends. DOES NOT WORK.

So I go to complain to the company, because by now it is too late for Amazon to accept a return. DO NOT EXPECT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE MAKERS OF THE STREAMZAP. They do not have an address I can find, they do not have a phone number, and they WILL NOT answer your email. Period.

Good Basic Remote with great IR range

(4 out of 5) by Kelsie G. Flynn on Dec 19, 2009
I purchased this for mythtv. Top reason I choose this was support out of the box for KnoppMyth R5.5. The buttons on the remote are adequate. For the price, this remote & usb receiver is the best in it's class. It has great IR range so it works great in larger rooms.

Nice remote !

Worked right out o fhe box with my ubuntu (mytybuntu). (Never tried windows compatibility.)
Like it a lot, works for everything that I need it for with my system.

(One little thing: They could place the buttons different, so it would not slide off my couch/chair/armrest all the time when I rest it upside-down.)

Can only recommend.

does the job

Works great with mythtv on linux. Only complaint is it's a little hungry when it comes to batteries.
