ok small cd/radio but does not work as a cd alarm

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Mar 9, 2004
After some searching, I determined that this product was exactly what we needed for a CD alarm clock because it has:

1) dual alarms, both which can use a CD
2) a remote (so you don't have to get out of bed to turn it off or snooze)
3) battery backup (so you don't lose your settings when you lose power)

When we got it, we discovered 3 nasty drawbacks that basically make it unuseable as a CD alarm clock.

1) CD mechanism is so *unbelievably* loud that you don't wake to the music of your choice, you wake to a grinding humm as the CD spins up for 10 seconds before the music comes on.

2) No numerical volume level. When you change the volume for music during the day, you have to guess by ear to change it back to the best volume for wake-up.

3) The CD spins but does not play during snooze. So you don't actually snooze, you listen to the grinding humm described above.

If you don't want to use it as a CD alarm clock, I guess it's ok, but pretty expensive, compared to other non-CD alarm clocks.

I'm returning it.

btw - if anyone knows of an MP3 alarm clock, which would completely solve the noise problem, I'd love to hear about it.

It'd be nice if the CD Player worked!

(1 out of 5) by Billy Blaze on Aug 12, 2004 (Upstate, NY)
I had originally purchased an RCA RP3755 and the CD player stopped recognizing audio discs. Fortunately it was still under warranty and I sent it to RCA for them to either fix or send a new one. Much to my surprise they sent me the upgrade 3757! Much to my displeasure the CD player experienced the same problem within a few weeks. Didn't recognize any audio CD I put in.

So now I have an orverpriced alarm clock. I guess if I want to watch a CD spin (until it errors), I have that option.

Don't buy it. It's a waste.

A disapointment from the formidable RCA company.

I had high hopes that this clock raido would be in the tradition of the RCA name. I was wrong. One of the few remote controlled clock radio/CD players on the market under $300.00. This clock has a mind of its own! I think RCA put too much brain in this one because after a few minutes of operation of the CD function, the whole thing will "lock-down". Nothing one does can stop the music or anything else for that matter. One must unplug it in order to shut-off the alarm in the morning. The flimsy, tiny, tiny buttons are just that. One gets the feeling the whole thing could break at any moment. He suddenly realises it already has! (Argh)

DON'T BUY!!!!

(1 out of 5) by M. Posner on Jan 8, 2006 (PA, USA)
I bought this CD Alarm clock for my daughter's room. Liked the fact it was small and had a nice look to it. Got it home and the CD player did not work. Took it back to the store and exchanged it. The second one's time display did not work properly---it cut off 1/2 way into the display so that you couldn't tell the time. Figured I'd take it back and exhcange it one more time. OK---got it home and it seemed to work fine. Within 5 minutes, I couldn't get the radio to turn off, I couldn't get the CD to turn off and I couldn't adjust the time. This product is obviously flawed if I got 3 different radios and all 3 had some type of problem!

For free its fine but not to buy

(1 out of 5) by A. Honig on Jan 1, 2006
I got this at a raffle. It was completely free for me. I tried it at home and at first the thing really worked well but slowly it did not recognize my disk any longer. I have no idea what happened to cause it to go in that direction.

Anyway eventuallythe cds stopped working.

What is good about this product: Digital clock showing the time in nice big numbers, remote control functionality, 11 different presets for the radio, battery and plug power so if there is a blackout it keeps my radio settings and an alarm that can actually wake me up when I need to be woken.

What is bad about this product: Not worth getting it fixed since its just more time to wait for a replacement that will not end up working in the end anyway, expect the cd to work well at the start and than over time stop completely.

Overall: If you get this for free as a gift and don't need the cd part, just use it and it will do what you need but if you can find something else go with that. I always listen to what others have to say about products and that is where you get the most honest answers about a product. Do what you feel but final line is a PASS.
