As compared to other players I've tried the sound quality on this was superior. I am using this for theta, gamma, hemi-sync, and epsilon meditation CD's and have had great results with this CD player.

someone who doesn't like distortion
It is a decent player, and I like having TV/weather capabilities. Coding presets is handy, but not obvious to set up. Read directions--then it's a snap.
A good set of headphones purchased individually really boosts the sound in this unit. (Koss Porta-Pro's offer great sound for the money; I do research prices, and I found the best price at Amazon)
Antenna (headphone cord) has to be held straight to get decent reception too much of my time when at my desk typing or using in a sports activity. I found this true regardless of headphones used--the ones that came with the unit or my Koss phones.
It does skip on burned CDs frequently. A clean, newly burned CD went right into the unit. It skipped. --being dirty or carelessly handled wasn't the issue in my circumstance.
I wanted to give it 3 stars because for me, if I can't listen to the radio when jostling on bumpy roads or sitting indoors at my desk, (which makes the reception fuzz in and out), and... I can't gear the music to my workout or mood with burned CDs, it isn't the best product out there. However, I couldn't make it 3 stars in all fairness, because the features and the player itself are still better than average if you don't need it for what I want it for.

This is a great CD player. If you turn it upside down or shake it it dosent effect your cd at all. Its a great CD player and if your looking for one this is it.

A sleek little machine.
I love my neat little red cd player. I've had it for over a year, and it has served me well in that time. It has superb sound quality, insanely long battery life, and it's very sleek. However, I now have to seek a replacement, as a two 1/2 foot trip to the floor seems to have destroyed it; it will play discs, but it will pause and skip every second or so, and it makes hideous noises when it starts to spin the discs. My only complaints about it are:
I hate those wrap around headphones
It wouldn't play most of my burned cds (I only have a few, and most of them refuse to work in this, while my old crappy cd player worked fine with them)
Such a fall should not have ruined it. Durability is a must for portable items such as this.
