Great Phone for the Money

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 23, 2003
Just pick up this phone and an extra 2600 handset as a bundle for less than $80. I haven't experienced any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. Voice quality is very good without any interference problem throughout my house. We have 802.11b running on the 2.4GHz band too. They coexist beautifully. While this phone doesn't have the latest features like color screen or multiphonic ring tone, it has the key features that I was looking for namely handset speakphone, handset-to-handset intercom and alphanumeric directory. The phone is compact and light weight, and looks a lot better than any Panasonic phones. It also has an ingenious belt clip that tugs away when not in use. The answering machine's voice quality can be better but this is a universal problem for all these devices with limited memory space.

Can't hear a thing!

(2 out of 5) by Cookie on Feb 22, 2004 (Fishers, IN United States)
I am not hard of hearing, but I cannot seem to hear well on this phone. I have two handsets and they're both the same. I can hear my voice echo back at me like I'm in a well and it's very distracting. In addition, the base handset will receive calls, but I can't get a dial tone to dial out. We've only had the phones for a few months, and I'm really disappointed. I'm online in search of a better phone.

Bad echo in handset

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep 8, 2003
Well, I read the directions and I set up the phone away from appliances. I also had purchased a second handset which I set up on the other end of my ranch house. No matter how I hold the phone, where I talk in the house, outside or inside, I hear my voice echoing back. If it weren't for the echo, I think this would make a great phone. The only reason I purchased this phone is that I have been pleased with my V-Tech 500, but I needed caller ID on the handset. I plan to return my v2656 today.

Mediocre at Best

(2 out of 5) by Rex N. Mills on Feb 4, 2006 (U.S.A.)
After a weeks ownership, here is my take on the VTech V2656.
The VTech offers a lot of features for the money and the easy to use volume control is a plus, but the answering system, when contacted remotely from another phone only functions correctly half the time and battery life off the base is terribly short, on mine maybe 15 hours. I suggest you look elsewhere.
