Best CD Player series in the market
I just bought this CD Player today and I like it. I am impressed with its NO SKIP technology and its price. I had another Panasonic SL Shock Wave which I bought in xmas 1999 and I used until yesterday. The little gadget resisted 4 years of HEAVY DUTY use (PUNISHMENT): Everyday use, plus sand from the beach, desert, water, lots of water (not submerged) I like to listen when I'm in the bath tub, plus I would even bring it into the Turkish bath, yes... it worked exposed to temps of over 45 C. It fell hard against concrete probably 15 times and still survived, I would even attach it to my mountain bike and ride hard until its last fall: I accidentally dropped it and a little piece of metal broke off inside. Repairing the thing would cost me as much as buying this more recent sibling.
This new model also comes with the CD JOGGER grip which allows you to run with the little guy in your hand. I like the depressions on the previous model for your fingertips (when you hold it in your hand) which is a feature the new model does not sport, but I found out you still have the same grip, that is an aesthetic feature mostly. To conclude I give the SL-SW940 only 4 stars because the material is not metal like its predecessors and I think metal takes more than plastic. On the other hand, this model has Panasonic's New Anti Skip technology which is not only new, it has improved tenfold.
Another thing: It comes with a pair of Panasonic headphones.
Give these headphones to a kid or donate them to charity unless you're a masochist: They will hurt your ears because of their shape... It makes me wonder about the engineers. Besides the sound on them is AWFUL. You need to get yourself a pair of good headphones: Panasonic has a new set of headphones, very stylish that come with other CD Players, which are not as good as this one. Sony also sells some great sporty headphones with Ultra Bass. You should get any of these... panasonic or sony, maxell is good too. To conclude... the price on this product is excellent, buy it, it's the best deal for your buck.

AWSOME PRODUCT
I really love this cd player, it sounds, looks, and works great...the only problem that I can think of is what everyone else says, the earphones that it comes with..they sound bad and are uncomfortable, but if you put decent earphones on the sound is AWESOME. I also like how its water resistant, I even take it into the bath tub. And in the 5 weeks ive had it I got NO SKIPS What so ever..and thats with skateboarding and even snowboarding.
overall GREAT BUY!

Stylish, reliable, good sound, durability, somewhat large
This player serves the purpose intended for it. It can withstand fair amounts of water (that is, of course, unless you submerse it), does not skip (at least in my experience), provides fairly decent sound quality, and is quite durable.
The one problem that some people, like me, may have, is that the size is large compared to most cd players in this price range.
But overall, if you don't mind a slightly larger player, this is great - I use it for my car.

Better Options...
I bought this CD player three months ago. First of all, if you're considering buying this, definitely treat yourself to a nicer pair of headphones, the ones that come with this are murder on your ears. Secondly, within a month of getting this, the locking mechanism got screwed up and now it opens randomly- an annoying interruption. Granted, this player has taken some pretty hard hits- I'm not the kindest master. In general, though, it feels pretty crappy- it's plastic, not metal. Also (small things), the volume's really annoying, it doesn't go up nearly as high as I'd like, and it's too big. The anti-skip is this player's saving feature. I've never had any skips; it works great. Despite that for $60 there are better options out there. I'd recommend some of Panasonic's other similarly priced players, of course Sony's usually good too. I actually really liked the Sony D-EJ100PS (I stole my friend's while she was on vacation), it's a lot smaller, has a much longer battery life and it too doesn't skip (ever). It's flaw is that it also has a low volume problem... *shrugs* maybe that's just me.
