I bought this item for my Laptop IBM Thinkpad T30, and before buying it, I was wondering about the compatibility issue. So I entered the Crucial Technologies web page and use its memory selectro, only to discover this memory was perfect for my laptop. By the way, the Crucial Memory Selector (I'm not sure if that's the exact name but you'll know what i'm talking about) is a GREAT THING.
Well, now my laptop has 1GB of RAM memory, the maximum permitted, and let me tell you the improve in performance is awesome. I recommend this item as a critical upgrade for your old laptop. (But first check the Crucial page for compatibility) Then go back to Amazon to buy at a cheaper price. lol.

The original 256 meg RAM that came with my Compaq Presario died. I also had a third party 256 meg RAM stick in the computer for a total of 512 meg.
I decided to replace the faulty Compaq 256 meg RAM with a 512 meg stick but was concerned about compatability. Compaq wanted way too much for a replacement 256 meg RAM, much less a 512 meg!
After considerable research, I decided to purchase the Crucial 512 meg RAM stick through Amazon.com. The product arrived in a timely fashion, and I installed it in the recently vacated RAM slot. It worked right out of the box perfectly. I still have the other 256 meg stick installed, and now have a total of 768 meg of RAM! It works GREAT!!! I recommend it to anyone looking to replace or upgrade their RAM.
