Average monitor at best. Price to high for such low quality

(1 out of 5) by C. Mattax on Jan 27, 2006
This is about the most expensive 20"+ monitor and has excellent specifications. But in the flesh, this monitor is a complete disappointment. I have had 2 of these. The first was so bad I returned it thinking it had to be defective. The second is only slightly better. Expect to spend several days (you heard me) adjusting the geometry and color combinations before giving up with the realization that "mediocre" is the best you will get from this POS. I read several reviews of the 1100DF before purchasing that were fairly generous. In spite of this, my expectations were not all that high. Those reviewers must have been smoking some serious crack. In no way is this a high end monitor. Grainy and dark in text applications, washed out in graphics and games. Both monitors exhibit a problem that I have never seen on another CRT. The left 3" of the screen compress the image or the font. Vertical lines in that 3" range bow noticeably (no matter how much pincushioning changes you try).

Samsung Customer Service is FRUSTRATING!

(1 out of 5) by A. Reel on Jun 7, 2005 (Oklahoma City, OK)
Hi all. I purchased this monitor through work. It looked great the first few days, then started jittering. So, we called the customer support people. They required US to pay for shipping of the monitor they sent as a replacement and the shipping of the monitor we were returning.

Well, guess what? The monitor they sent wouldn't even turn on!!! So they sent another one. Guess what? It had curved lines all around the screen! Finally, they sent YET ANOTHER ONE. And now, guess what? It keeps flickering different shades of the rainbow (it was a pretty magenta a few minutes ago!). I find this to be ridiculous. I am a big fan of Samsung products, but it seems you need to be really sure to NOT get the defective product! They replace your newly-bought product with one of their refurbished products which is standard with many companies. However, it doesn't seem that their refurbishment process includes repairs to defective parts! A co-worker came by and tapped the top of the monitor lightly - and the whole screen jittered!

When the monitor actually works, it looks great - a lot better than the Sony Trinitron it replaced. My only true complaint is with the customer service.

Good Buy

(4 out of 5) by Steven Wilburn on Nov 25, 2003 (Markham, Texas United States)
I have been very pleased with this monitor. Super sharp text and a good overall picture. Easy to operate controls on this samsung monitor which other monitors lack. I have looked at some Trintron tubes but the text is fuzzy on them! A invar shaddow mask is sharper. The color seemed a little weak until I adjusted my video card settings. The bandwidth is higher on this model than on other brand monitors so it has better refresh performance. I would buy it again with no hesatation. Great for surfing the internet!

OMG Was I Ever Disappointed!!!!!!

(1 out of 5) by HellbentPH on Mar 20, 2005 (Alberta)
I bought this monitor after an exhaustive search for a good flat panel turned up diddly squat. First few days were GREAT, numerous different jacks and options both for hook up and onscreen adjustment(s). But after awhile it started to develop curvy almost vibrating kind of lines in the screen, eminating from the cortners, sides, and center. Almost a wave effect. Most times you dont see it unless your on a high contrast or dominant backdrop such as whites, blues, etc. Its also extremely noticeable whenb playing World Of Warcraft specifically when your dead and you have all those whites and grays on the screen. Im forced to return it and try another one, but I am sure itll be more of the eventual same. When that happens, Ill be switching to BenQ's top notch FP231W flat panel display. STAY AWAY FROM THE 1100DF. ITS NOTHING BUT A PAIN IN THE ASS....... :O(

Solid Performance for a Large Screen Flat Panel Monitor

(5 out of 5) by Atmara on Apr 4, 2005
I have been very happy with the performance of this monitor. My machine has been a solid performer without problems. I have dealt with Samsung's customer service in the past with another monitor I owned which did develop a problem and they were extremely helpful. They replaced the monitor and even extended my warranty. If you are looking for a large flat panel CRT this is certainly a monitor to consider.
