Good inexpensive alarm clock

(5 out of 5) by J. Mckinney on Nov 24, 2008
Having had recent bad experience with travel alarms I went out searching for a new one. This one is easy to operate. Buttons easily allow change of settings. It is very lightweight. The cover is made of plastic which makes it seem flimsy but it works out OK - that adds to the lightness. It is sturdy enough for my daily use. Although a travel alarm I use it daily. It is very inexpensive and yet better than many more expensive models that I am retiring.

Unit is great, took to Europe and Ireland and never missed the bus. Small and light, accurate and perfect. Shipped quickly and on time. Would recommend to all.

Doesn't Keep Time!

(1 out of 5) by Music Disciple on Nov 10, 2009
I was glad I found this little clock on Amazon, because it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. Elgin is a reputable name in timepieces. Unfortunately, the clock gained about 15 minutes every five hours! I tested it more than once. I was so disappointed. Had to return it. Still looking for something like it. I need something simple, folding, battery-operated, a clock that can keep accurate time (!) and with a light that comes on when pressed. Unfortunately, it was not to be with this one. I don't usually write reviews, but felt obligated to report my recent experience with this model.

Is only illuminated if you press snooze button

(3 out of 5) by S. Signorino on Oct 20, 2009 (Central Indiana)
Described as a illuminated battery operated alarm clock was misleading. I wanted a small battery operated clock I could see the time clearly in the dark, without completely waking or pressing any buttons. Seems to be a functional travel alarm. Know that you cannot see the time in the dark without pressing the snooze button, which they say lasts 4 seconds illuminated.

Works and is affordable

(4 out of 5) by Buyer on Sep 28, 2009
I'm studying abroad in France, and needed a very handy, light, alarm clock that worked properly. It arrived in the time, I was told it was going to arrive, and came with easy, straight-forward instructions. At first, I was a little worried because I'm a very heavy sleeper, and need a an alarm clock whose alarm can accommodate that. On a test run, the alarm seemed too weak, however, when I actually set it to wake me up one morning, the alarm worked fine. I woke up. It's been a month now, and it still wakes me up just fine and it shows no sign of breaking. Overall, I'm happy with this alarm clock.
Also, let's not forget, times are rough these days, especially for a student financially. This alarm clock is a cheap, great buy.
