Works well for an $80 cd player
I have had the player for two days and it works just fine. The only thing I don't care for, is that you can only access shuffle play via the remote control. It is extremely easy to use.

Add Me To The List Of Unhappy Customers
Like many other people writing reviews here, this item arrived broken. The "TOC Read" seemed to be the problem. Amazon replaced it with no fuss. I wouldn't recommend this machine. Since it replaced a Pioneer 6 CD changer I bought way back in 1990, it's a mystery why this machine must pause to "read" each disc while you're standing there waiting to hear music. The shuffle play is terrible, since it heavily favors certain CDs over others, and worse, plays up to four cuts in a row from the same CD. Not my idea of random or shuffle play. The Pioneer it replaced was 15 years older technology, yet the Pioneer was superior in every way. The Pioneer's random play was awesome...no repeats, no loooong pauses to read each CD, no two cuts in a row from the same CD, and it didn't favor any one Cd over another. DON"T buy this machine.

Problems must return, but hope for good unit
I just ordered this item and although it gets good sound its remote doesn't have a power button! It defeats the purpose of the remote! I can't believe none of the other reviewers didn't mention this. It has a mechanical switch.
It also seems to be defective. It will not change to the next disk after playing the last song. It will just stop. It will change the disk no problem when looking for a disk to play. It does indeed move out slowly and change disk slowly, but that no problem for me. I just want it to change disks and continue playing.
I had to call tech support at teac (no response to emails) and confirmed the unit is defective. I am returning it to amazon for a replacement to see it I can get a good unit. Teac support say amazon is selling refurbish units. I think it will be a good buy if I can get a good one. If I can update this review I will to let others know what happens.
Update: 20 Dec. 05
Well I got the second unit and unfortunately it too was defective. At first it worked and changed the disk. Then I tried using the remote and it would not work. When I pressed the button to skip forward, the machine would stop! After getting physcial with the remote I got it to work. Then the machine would no longer change to the next disk!
Also some disks made a lot of spining noise.
This is a LEMMON folks don't waste your money. Look for something else. Amazon has no problem replacing the unit, but it's not worth it. Those that got a good unit seem to be one of the lucky one. Even so how long before the unit fails?
Subtract one of the stars I gave and make it a two star product because of the good sound it gives.
Let the buyer beware!

DOA, Part II
This is the second Teac 5-CD player I have ordered that was busted right out of the box. To say that I am dissatisfied with Teac would be an understatement. I will never buy another Teac product again.

A piece of junk
This component can seem to work ok at times, but I had the "TOC read" problem as well. It just would not find the disk in the tray--incredibly frustrating. I had it serviced under the warranty, but they could not find anything wrong--they just cleaned the lenses. Then it worked ok for a month or so, before the "TOC read" problem came up again.
Look elsewhere for a CD-player.
