Very Impressive

Well worth the price. An incredible bargain. I purchased this when I ordered my Nexstar 80GT from Amazon. I now have everything I need for endless hours of observing.

Overall - Very pleased with purchase

I own a Celestron NexStar SLT 130. I was looking for an eyepiece kit to expand beyond the two (9 mm and 25 mm) that came with the telescope. I have been very pleased with the kit. The eyepieces seem pretty good to me, though I am definitely on the amateur side of the spectrum. My only negative comment is that it would have been nice to not duplicate my existing 9 mm eyepiece (the kit comes with 4, 6, 9, 15 and 32 mm). However, I did know that it would be duplicated prior to purchasing, so it was my choice to do so.

The filters also work well, though it would be nice if their little boxes came labeled on the outside. I ended up labeling them with a marker to make it easier to pick the right one. The included guide for using the filters was also helpful.

The carrying case seems relatively sturdy with pretty good foam packaging inside.

I would definitely recommend this purchase to others.

Great kit!

This is a super kit. The filters & lenses are very nice & of good quality. Everything works well. I really liked the sturdy locking case (although mine came without a key) & how well the foam interior holds the lenses & filters snugly & safely. The foam has cutouts to hold each lens & a section for the filters to be stored side by side, also surrounded by foam. We've used all of the filters & have used the lenses also several times since our purchase. I highly recommend this for begining & mid-level telescope astronomers.

Nice Kit for the Beginner

(4 out of 5) by mirage4d on Sep 7, 2005 (Athens, GA)

The filters and the aluminum case are the highlight of this kit, and make it worth the money for the beginner. The eyepieces are of medium to low quality; very low eye relief in particular is a prevalent issue with all of the eyepieces. The 6mm and 4mm lenses appear to be the least impressive of the lot. The 9mm and 15mm perform reasonably well. I can't speak to the quality of the 32mm, as exit pupil renders it useless in my scope. The included Barlow lens works reasonably well with the 9mm eyepiece, but the image is quite dark when used in conjunction with both the 4mm and 6mm.

The filters I have used thus far from the kit have been of very acceptable quality, and again these filters and the case itself make the kit worth the money for the beginner. I recommend replacing the higher magnification eyepieces and the Barlow lens with something of better quality as soon as it is economically feasible.

So much for the price.

Since I am a beginner I occasionally use this. But, I keep thinking of purchasing eyepieces of higher grades in the future. Optical qualites are fairly limited. The extreme small ones are too dark to use. It might be better to purchase 15mm and Barlow(sp?) lens seperately.
