OK, but...

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep 19, 2003
Bought this phone because of the "memory match" feature - Caller ID is supposed to display the name of the caller as it is saved in your directory - like a cellphone. Catch is that this only works for local callers, if you saved the number with a "1-" prefix, no match. Called ATT customer service to discuss the issue, but they couldn't understand a word I said because I was using the handset speakerphone. Returned it the very next day.

Overall a pretty good product for the price.

I bought this phone with answerer after a bit of research on the many different ones out there. I didn't want to spend a lot of money (there are the new 4.8 GHz phones out there) but I wanted a system that was expandable for rooms without a phone jack and a digital answerer. What I liked about the individual handsets was that each operated also as a speakerphone. It's great when you have a 18 month old who always wants to get on the phone when they see you talking, just press the speakerphone button, let them hold the phone and you can still hear and converse with the caller on the other end. The sound quality is pretty clear (having been on the opposite end of a speakerphone call) and the digital answerer is okay - could be better but I've definitely had worse. Overall, I'm fairly satisfied with this phone and would recommend one to try it if they are looking for a similar system.

Awful

Agree with all of the reviews below. Phone is lousy. Handset is not ergonomic at all. Hard to dial. Heard to hear. Bought this at Costco--should have read the reviews first. My mistake.

Defective LED, Great Phone Book

(3 out of 5) by Truonginator on Apr 19, 2005 (CA, United States)
I got this phone along with three additional handsets for Christmas and was very pleased with the simplicity of set-up and programming. In March one of the handset began losing some of its LED display on the screen. It is now April and the entire LED is completely blank. We have not done anything outside of its normal use to cause such a malfunction. I will try to contact the Manufacturer and see if they will replace this defective handset under Warranty or not.

Other than this flaw, the rest of the phone(s) work great. The speakerphone feature is excellent, and so is the clarity in the calls. My favorite part about these phones is that you only need to program a Phone Book entry into one handset and it automatically populates into any additional handsets you have.

2 tin cans and a string

(1 out of 5) by Richard J. Babcock on Dec 18, 2004
This system is pure junk. Sound reproduction is distorted. Redial function works "sometimes". Pre-programmed numbers work "sometimes". I bought AT&T 'cause I thought it was the best. What a mistake that was; of course they are all made in China, which is a bigger mistake. I bought this system at Sears about a week ago and it will be boxed up and returned TOMORROW.
My advice: do your homework before purchasing a phone system just like I'm going to do now.
