After careful consideration,

I bought this unit because a reviewer on another site said that MP3 discs played well. It is certainly the case. A Sony unit I bought last year skips quite a lot on the same MP3 Discs that play perfectly well on this guy. (I thought that the discs were the problem.). I have many discs and on random there can be more than 50 hours of music in one load up.(160 Mb bit rate discs have around 10 hours. I added a Switch box plugged into the Aux. input so my DVD, VCR and Computer Audio all can be heard loud and clear thru this unit. It sounds really good. Especially considering the price. We'll see how it holds up thru time.

Biggest bang for the buck!

I tested many systems before I finally decided on this one. My budget was [modest]at the time. I was looking for a low-priced, multi-featured stereo that can play MP3s. It came down to this one and [another] one. I chose this stereo because it held 2 more CDs and had extra ports on the back. It took me less than 10 minutes to set it up, including connecting my DVD player's audio output to it. The sound is excellent from all sources: DVD, VHS, CD and MP3. With the extra 2 speaker ports, I can easily upgrade the system to have surround sound. Instead of wasting development on fancy displays like a slot machine, RCA made a clean display that does not include a bunch of garbage. It even does better on displaying MP3 names than my DVD player. I have read the other reviews and I believe users are having issues with shipping (the system being banged around or something). I bought mine at a retail outlet and have not had a single problem! I recommend you purchase this system over any other in its price range.

Great buy!

I've been searching for a microsystem for my bedroom for quite some time now, and after analyzing the options this system provides - mp3, remote control, 100W power - I decided to buy it.

From all its capability, the only function I haven't tested yet was playing mp3 discs, since I did not install yet the MusicMatch Jukebox software that came with it. I plan on testing it this weekend, and I'm sure it will work great, like all the other features.

The only drawback I have with this microsystem is that it's not that micro. I had trouble fitting it in a bookshelf I had in my room and had to put the speakers in a different shelf. But that's due to the 5 CD exchanger, which won't allow for a thinner main module.

If you have space, go ahead and buy it. You won't regret it. I didn't.

Wonder why and how ?

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 10, 2003
Found this as the only system that has Casettes, CDs and MP3 playing capability, all in one. Ordered it and got it after three long weeks. When I unpacked and played the CD it said "Reading Disk1". It went on for minutes and hours. I found that all the buttons are stuck including the power button and I have to unplug to get it working again. CDs never played after repeated tries. A brand new system out of the box !! Couldn't believe RCA did not test the simple function of the ...system before distributing to the market...

I hate this thing.

Might be an okay system, but I can't get the cd player to work. Every time I try, the digital readout displays "reading" and stays that way. All the input buttons, including the power button lock up and I have to unplug the system to get it to start again. I wish I had never bought it.
