Works just OK for ONE DAY!

DO NOT buy one of these. I won't go so far as to specifically blame the seller from whom I bought mine, but it's hard for me to believe he wasn't aware of the problems associated with this antenna. First of all, Terk is no longer an independent company, but rather a division of Audiovox, who doesn't seem to be particularly concerned about providing any support for the Terk brand. Second, the SR1 is now considered an "out-of-date" product, and is afforded only the "Sorry, there's nothing more I can do for you," response when you call Audiovox customer service.

While the "through-the-glass" technology seems like a wonderful idea, Terk's version of it is anything but. I can only ask that you believe me when I tell you that I am absolutely ANAL/OBSESSIVE/COMPULSIVE about things such as installation of an antenna like this. The glass, both inside and out, was as clean and contaminant -free as any piece of glass has ever been. The temperature was right, and the actual application was performed exactly as directed.

The interior half of the unit fell off 3 days after installation, and the exterior part only stayed in place for 4 days more. And when each part fell off, guess what broke in both of them -- the absolutely critical induction coils!

NO WARRANTY. NO RETURN. NO REPLACEMENT. NO SUPPORT. NO GOOD!

BEWARE......

This thru glass technology is a good idea, but Terk seriously needs to re-design this product. If you do a lot of highway driving in cold and wet weather, DO NOT get this antenna. After installing mine exactly according to the directions, it blew off while driving down the highway.(don't laugh) After contacting Terk, they were kind enough to send me another one for free. This time I used some goop weatherproof adhesive to secure it. It worked great for a few weeks but then the outer black cover at the base of the antenna started coming up. The part on the inside of the window is coming off too. I'm now at the point where I have to use duct tape to keep it secure.

Best XM Antenna Option

Great product. I have one in my '01 Pathfinder, mounted on the rear left glass. Although it is bigger than you think it is from the picture, it doesn't have an ugly appearance like the "dog tick" antennas. It comes with a simple mounting template and you just peel & stick. No problem with the adhesive.

Just be careful you mount it on flat surface. My installer mounted mine on a curved surface, and after several months water leaked in and ruined it. Terk replaced it free. I put the replacement in the same position, but ran a small bead of silicon around it to keep it dry.

Highly recommended for auto XM installations.
