excellent alarm

Tung on Aug 30, 2006 (Berkeley, CA USA)the alarm functions of the this clock radio are excellent. the alarm is set on when you change the [alarm] time, instead of having a separate switch one has to remember to enable. it supports 24 hour time to avoid am/pm confusions when setting the alarm; I couldn't find this feature on any models except battery powered traveler alarms, which don't seem as reliable.
However, if there were products with comparable alarm functionality (it shouldn't be that hard...), a smaller form factor might be nice.

Piece of junk

Garbage

The person who designed this garbage should be forced to live in a small, dark room with nothing but this piece of junk for entertainment. I will never buy another electronic item from Emerson again!

Returned it
(1 out of 5) by chrysynthia2 on Jan 11, 2006 (OH)Well, I decided I wanted an alarm clock with the option to wake up to a cd, so I thought this one looked good. Got it home, had no problems setting the times on it, then got to the part of the instructions where you set the cd alarm function... thats where I discovered that you can't program the stupid thing to wake you up to any song on the cd, it will only play the first track on the disc for the alarm function. Ridiculous.
Also, I did have a chance to listen to a song on it; the sound quality was not so great, but I figured hey, its an alarm clock, I'm not planning on using it to listen to music much on it, thats what my stereo is for. Anyway, I returned it less than 24 hours later.
