"Flat" screen CRTs are a joke, unless you are willing to spend more than $... for this size class.

Normally what you are looking at, or rather through, is a piece of flat glass about 1/4" away from the main tube. If you are using this type of screen in a dark environment, you will get ghost effects from bright on dark graphics. That is, if you have a white bar and a black background, the white will reflect off the "flat" glass and back onto the display, giving you ghost images. This is extremely annoying since it has the unwelcome side effect of blurring black on white text and other visual objects.

The Samtron/Samsung 96B series has so far proven to beat the odds with a higher quality anti-reflective glass. There is some fuzz, but the text is sharp, clear and even.

The tube also provides near perfect alignment and naturally all of the geometry functions one would expect in a modern day CRT.

Give up the 15" LCD panel that you paid twice as much for, and believe me, the extra 3" viewable makes a world of difference.
