You get what you pay for!

May 20, 2003 - By Amazon Customer

I tried to find a cheaper ink and now I am paying.
I replaced two colors with Rhinoteck cartridges in my Cannon S800.
The prints looked good at first however after a while, the prints lost saturation and appeared streaky. The head test showed the two Rhinotek colors were paler and were streaking. It appeared as though the two heads were getting plugged. I replaced the cartridges with Cannons and the problem is getting better. I do not know if I will have to replace the heads.

If I could give zero stars, I would.

Don't make a mistake - if you buy this after-market ink you'll be disappointed - and you may just ruin your print head. I thought "What harm would it do to just try it - the price is right." So I bought the photo cyan and photo magenta since those colors seem to be sucked down faster than any onthers on my S820. I first replaced the photo cyan cartridge. At first there didn't seem to be a huge difference. But then I reprinted some photos I had orginally printed with the OEM cartridge and did a side-by-side comparison. I could detect a more washed-out greenish tint to my output - and this was just 1 cartridge. Before I could finish printing my 3rd photo, the RMA was filled-out.

WARNING! Worst quality, NEED TO USE TAPE TO INSTALL!!

Feb 28, 2005 - By prodesma (San Francisco, CA United States)

Hi. The ink quality seems a bit flatter- not quite as rich and vibrant when I am printing on Epson Photo Quality Inkjet Paper from my i950 Canon (as if contrast and brightness drop a bit). Believe me, this paper combo with this printer can produce fantastic results. But use Canon inks for the two extra dollars.

Okay, you're wondering how I need to use tape? I bought a 6-pack AND multiple-pack of Black ink a while back from Rhino. I must say at this point, that the listing here on Amazon for the multi-pack DOES state EXACTLY what is included (and doesn't state black on that list), so be warned. Well, 3 of the 8 cartridges I've owned from Rhinotedious had NO front, ummm insert "latch/tab". You know, the part that faces you and "clicks" down to keep the cartridge in place. (The little piece of clear plastic that says "PUSH" on it). Yeah, hard to believe. And what good does a warranty do, really? I mean, I CHANGE inks when I run out. And keep a spare for that reason. And I'm printing when I need things done. So, sending a cartridge back at my expense for shipping and waiting for a return is really NOT an option. I use electrical tape to hold the cartridge down, otherwise it "rides" up and does not have direct contact with the ink port at the bottom. I have to tape across the top surface, over the adjacent ink cartridges to keep the Rhinoseptic in place. Does this sound like I'm maximizing my expense computer and peripherals, or that I'm getting the best quality prints of my artwork, or the best use of my money? No way. BTW, EACH Rhinotakemymoney that was defective was STILL in an unopened box and the cartridge still intact in plastic seal (so I don't think this problem was becasue they were returned by someone else or damaged before arriving), I think they just slid past their quality control.

Buy Canon. I've never had a QC issue with a single Canon ink cartridge. Cheers.

compatable to the canon in every way

Aug 25, 2005 - By Billy Wong (Pheonix, Arizona)

The bci-6 series from Rhinotek which is compatable for the canon bci-6 cartridges worked in my printer better than the canon bci-6 that I was previously using. the quality was good without any changes by my part, after tweaking the printing properties for my printer and changing the way that the color printed, it became a fantastic cartridge set.
