Great choice for serious needs on a budget

I purchased these to use for "Hawkwatch" -- the Golden Gate Raptor Observatory (ggro.org) volunteer program. I did a lot of research and reading and the Nikon Action series were were consistently recommended as a good entry-level binocular choice for birding and similar pursuits. After a year of hawkwatch, I definitely agree. I get nice clear views and my eyes never feel tired. (My arms do -- they're not the lightest binoculars in the world, but that's the kind of tradeoff that seemes reasonable for the low price). I've spent hours using these and have only one minor complaint: the diopter adjustment tends to migrate towards the minus side, so I have to keep moving it back to the right setting for me. However, the more I use the binoculars, the less this seems to happen, and they are really worth every penney. Be sure to get a binocular harness so you can wear them comfortably while walking about -- it really improves the experience of using any full-size binoculars.
