No complaints here
Having not heard of the "Action" name and not yet seeing a picture on Amazon's site, I was a bit hesitant to purchase this item. I live in a fringe reception area and did not expect much from the unit at my home... and did not get much either. But, since then I have taken it on the road to try it various places and yesterday to San Francisco for a ball game (my main purpose for such a device anyway) and was not disappointed in the least. In fact, the woman in front of me had a little Radio Shack unit and her reception was very borderline while mine was sharp and clear. The screen size is sufficient and the contrast options seem to be as good as any for viewing in the sunlight during ballgames. I have no expereince with any other handhelds, but hear that they all eat batteries. I used rechargeables and got good results for 3-4 hours it seems, and would guess that alkalines would do better even... either way, enough for a ballgame. I got good results in several hotels along a recent road trip as well on both UHF and VHF channels. From what I can see, you won't do much better elsewhere for the price. Go for it.

Don't rely on reviews
After reading the favorable reviews I decided to purchase this item. I am located in a very good location for receiving TV signals with just an indoor antenna, but this item failed miserably to bring in anything at all. Go figure.

Disappointed
The plastic screen was heavily scratched on the unit I received even though there was a factory applied protective sticker over it. I would not buy another of their products.

VERY small, but affordable
An average product, I think there are better portable TVs out there. This one is extremely tiny, the screen is only about 2.5 inches. If you have poor eyesight, you definitely wouldn't want to purchase this product.
It does get decent reception for me, and the batteries (if you use good ones) last for about 3 hours. It has the option to use headphones with it and the sound is decent. It comes with a stand, which is useful for standing it up on a table or countertop.
I would recommend researching other portable TVs before purchasing this one. While the price is nice, it is smaller than expected. The price is affordable though, so it might be just what you're looking for if you have decent vision and want something that is VERY portable.

Great Value in a Handheld TV
My comments are based on only one day of owning, but so far it appears to be comparable or better than any of the 2.5 in. handhelds on the market, for a very fair price. I knew nothing about this brand before, but they appear to be more or less dedicated to producing portable tvs and that shows in this model. The screen is of the latest active TFT design, not the less vibrant passive matrix design in the older handhelds. The screen, according to the packaging, is now at over 112000 dots which is amongst the highest resolution of any other handhelds. Picture quality is of course dependent on the signal strength, but with a good signal the picture is very watchable and even small print (e.g. stock tickers) are very readable. Color is good with a strong signal and the sound is very clear. Alkaline batteries seem to last for about 4 hours of continuos usage which is also in line with the current crop of portables. A car cord or ac adapter is a good idea for extended viewing with access to power.
For its intended purpose as a tv on the go it seems well suited. As far as long term reliability, I can't yet say. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a small handheld tv to supplement your recreation, this seems like a good choice, especially for its price.
