Cornea Systems CT1503 15" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 26, 2003
This monitor is excellent. It's very clear and doesn't hurt your eyes. The only thing that I could think of that needs improvement is the TV tuner. It's not super clear, but it's okay. Otherwise, this monitor is excellent for the price and I would reccomend it.

Couldn't ask for more ...

(5 out of 5) by SoCalAvAZ on Jun 18, 2003 (SoCalAvAZ)
I was researching an LCD TV for my bedroom for a month before I came to the conclusion that this one featured on Amazon.com is the lowest price out there. Although I was looking at other factors aside from price, but price was among my top three.

My first requiremnt was picture quality, then price, then reviews based on other users. Let's just point out right now for the record that as a person that's on the computer an average of 10 hours a day and does a lot of online researching and online shopping, Amazon.com has mastered online shopping for one main reason, the users review are wonderful and really make you confident when you are looking at millions of possible items.

I read the reviews about this product and saw nothing but good words. I will be the next to give this item rave reviews.
I waited a couple of months to review it so I can give a fair and accurate review, I have owned it now for 3 months.

*PRICE: As mentioned before, you cannot get lower that this for the quality and looks

*LOOKS: It is gorgeous, unique design, very very very thin, black on silver makes it very attractive

*PICTURE: The resolution on for the television mode and monitor mode could not be better, being in the computer field and always have top of the line equipment at work, this is the best resolution screen I have EVER had!

*SOUND: There were some complaints from other reviewers on sound and I was worried when I received it, but I use it in my condo bedroom, and sometimes even when it is on high I still never have noticed any poor sound quality, it is perfect for bedroom use!

*INSTALL: Although I am a computer exert, I'm not an electrical expert and was a bit worried that I would have problems installing this since I also had a digital cable box from COX and High Speed Internet, but it was a so easy, did it in a few minutes once I had all the proper cords/wires

*EASE OF USE: You won't even need a manual to use this, easy, self explanatory, literally just plug in and enjoy!

*SIZE: Very compact, very slim, it is a lot slimmer than many LCD screens out there that don't even have a tv tuner

*ADDITIONALS: I must warn you, if you are also connecting this to digital cable you will have an added [$$$] cost for buying all the cables to connect

*TV & MONITOR: Other reviewers mentioned that it was a bit slow going from different modes i.e. monitor to TV, this is such a small set-back you get used to it and you are so happy with this tv/monitor that you won't even care!

ADVICE: If you are also connecting to digital cable and high speed internet modem, buy good wired to connect these, I don't remember the names of the wires you need but there are 2, buy the ones with atleast 2GHZ even though COX will tell you all you need is 1GHZ. It makes a lot of difference is resolution and quality!

All I have to say is buy buy buy and buy from Amazon.com too, you get it sent to you for ... at a price that no one will believe!
Hope my experience helped.

Excellent monitor (for my purposes)

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 15, 2003
I just moved to New York from Australia and needed to buy a TV. I wanted something I could take back with me that wasn't too heavy and had a universal power supply. I have a number of computers so the idea of it doubling as a computer monitor (since I already have a 24" TV back home) was appealing. Also, in our tiny apartment, space is a major consideration.

So I decided an LCD monitor with a wide viewing angle, video inputs (not just RGB) and bright colors seemed to be an excellent solution.

I chose the Cornea because it fit the bill in all areas. I've had it for a month now. The picture is bright and clear (through S-video or CATV) and the viewing angle excellent (this is really important when you have a few people watching!). As a computer monitor it's gorgeous (I'm using it now). Connectivity is great. Looks nice. At the price it's just amazing (frankly I was a bit worried it would be crap, since I couldn't see one hands-on).

I have a few gripes though:
(1) there's some pretty obvious color-banding for TV use, nothing too terrible, but certainly not HDTV, or even just compared to a cheap CRT TV
(2) the speakers are pretty terrible, though I get WAY better signal through the RCA connectors compared to CATV, the CATV audio is just appalling,
(3) the volume control takes forever to adjust, seriously!
(4) there's no manufacturer's code for use with a universal remote (this info comes from Cornea support).

The audio problems (quality and slow adjustment) will be resolved when I get a hifi system. 17" is pretty small for watching TV these days, but I'm used to it now, and we're not far away from it (this was my decision though, not a fault with the product). The universal remote problem is really annoying - the only thing I'll use it for is the power button. Why do manufacturer's do that??

All in all, a great product. Highly recommended, but for a pretty specific need.

Warning to Foreign Language Speakers, and the Deaf.

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 10, 2003 (Red, White, & Bluetiful, USA)
---No PIP, (Picture in Picture) so you can work on your computer and watch the news.
---No V-Chip Function, which I believe makes this monitor illegal to sell in the US, and is against FCC regulations, what this means to you the consumer.
---No Tri, or Bi Lingual language support.
---No Close Captioning. This, at least to me, is a big deal, I like to put the news in PIP, and turn on the close captioning, if a story interests me and I am on the phone, or listening to the radio, I can read along, if it is really interesting, I can turn the sound on. But this monitor does not support Close Captioning.

Obviously if you are Deaf, and/or speaks a foreign language this is not the Unit for you.
