Good TV, OK for capture

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct

I use it in Windows XP and the TV aspect of the card is pretty good. Like many others, I agree that the softawre leaves a bit to be desired. In fact, I use Cyberlink's PowerVCR for timeshift recording because the Avermedia software is just not that good.
If you intend to use the card for video capture make sure you have a good deal of computer horsepower. I have a 1Ghz Athlon with 256MB ram and get good quality capture in VCD mode, but when trying to capture at Mpeg2 levels the video is choppy. I'm sure a more powerful PC would help tremdously.
Those of you with PC's similar to mine may consider getting the Haupaugge card that has a built in mpeg hardware decoder.
I've also had pretty good luck capturing straight to Divx with this card.
Overall is a good deal for the money. Just wish my PC was a little faster.

Very Fair TV Tunner with PVR Card

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan

I bought Hauppauge WinTV-GO a few months ago, then switch to the VERMEDIA TV Stereo (pvr) Tuner currently. It works great, receives TV show in stereo with caption optional. You can record your favorite program manually or automatically (by titantv.com). To my experience, you can not skip the commercial through titantv.com.
However, the resolution of picture is in the middle (max. 720X480). You can watch high quality picture in a window (around 14 inches), However, if you fit the picture to the full screen (17 or 19 inches monitor), then the image is poor.

Good basic TV capture card @ reasonable price

This is a good basic TV capture/tuner card @ reasonable price.
If you have lots of home VHS/c or 8mm/Hi8mm, you can save them into your harddrive and send them via email.
Also, if you have a CD-RW drive(DVD-/+RW, even better), you can burn a video cd(VCD) (or DVD) that can be played on most of modern DVD players.

Technical support is awful

(2 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb

The AverTV software doesn't work on my computer. It crashes with the useless error message, "abnormal program termination". I called technical support, and not only were they unable to help me at all, they didn't even document the error. Their techincal support service ranks amongst the worst I have ever encountered. Fortunately, the card works well with DScaler. The only thing the card has going for it is its price.

TV is fine Capture sucks

(3 out of 5) by Bryan Bird on Feb

The TV function of this device is on par with much more expensive items but it does not even come close to better tuners in regards to capture. I have a P4 2.4Ghz gateway and it still is poor so i would have to believe that the component and the software arent that good at the capture function. Resolution is a bit limited especially for those of you with high screen resolutions. Other than that, this is a great tuner ::FOR THE PRICE:: if you are looking for better capture look to a different brand and a higher price.
