In my search for a replacement keyboard for a old vaio laptop I once used, I'd tried both zippy keyboards and now adesso. The MCK-901 (similar to this one) is also close to what I want, but all the keyboards I've used lack something. The primary problem with the zippy was the spacebar height, which is a similar problem with this keyboard. The height of he spacebar forces you to type at a tilt (towards you) in order to press the spacebar. I guess I'll just glue something on top of the spacebar to fix that...
The major problem with this keyboard is the forced tilt. Most keyboards can both lay flat or tilt. This one can tilt and then tilt even higher. There's no laying flat. Using a tilted keyboard only increases the stress on your hands and wrists when typing. Other than those problems, it's a pretty solid keyboard.
The software footprint mentioned by the previous reviewers isn't a problem. Just forego the software and only load the driver.

If I cut out part of the front border (in front of the spacebar and laid only the front bottom on top of a second surface to raise it up, this keyboard would be nearer to the mark. Except for the rather tiny function keys, I've nearly no problem with the key setup.

If you use the "Windows" key on your keyboard, then this is probably the mini-keyboard you want. SIIG makes one that is decent but doesn't have the key. Adesso makes other keyboards like this one, and which one works best for you you probably depends on what keys you need and where. Look at the bottom row, look a the "Enter" key, there will be variations from what you may be used to. After using this keyboard at work, I bought one for home. Sure, it doesn't have the normal numeric keys, but I reach for the mouse a lot more often than I reach for those, and it is considerably closer now. I recommend this keyboard.

I hate wide keyboards with a number pad. They force me to reach too far for the mouse. This keyboard minimizes the distance between home row typing position and my mouse. It also lies very flat, so my wrists don't have to bend upwards. The Fn key does not duplicate the functionality of my IBM laptop Fn key. Also with my laptop, it seems Numlock and Fn are both needed to enable this keyboard's number pad, but I don't plan to ever use that feature anyway. Occasionally I bump the Fn key in the corner which causes some of the number pad keys to not work, but another press toggles things back to normal. I might pop the case open and tape over the Fn key. If you install the provided software, you get some bonus keys along the top. Some people might not like the feel or size of this keyboard, but it works for me.

I was starting to have wrist problems with my old keyboard, and I haven't had any wrist pain at all since switching to this keyboard.

The problem is that I want my mouse right next to the right side of the keyboard, the most comfortable and ergonomic spot. But with most keyboards that's right where the number pad is, so your mouse is several inches away from its ideal position. With this small keyboard, the mouse goes exactly where I want it.

I never use a number pad, so I don't miss it at all. But for people who use number pads, there is one built in to the keys, but I don't imagine it would be as convenient as a usual number pad.

This keyboard also has several other features I enjoy, like being able to turn the volume up or down from the keyboard, or to pause, stop, or play the music you're listening to. There's also a key to bring up your internet home page, so with a push of a button you're online, rather than having to go click on your Firefox icon or what not.

Great keyboard! I highly recommend it to people with carpal tunnel or wrist problems. You might also want to look into the Evoluent vertical mouse, which is a more ergonomic mouse that takes some stress off your wrist.

This keyboard is awesome as a gaming keyboard. I do have problems with the keys registering, but that is because I am stubborn and like very few items in startup...So I don't run the software for it. I don't really use it for the multimedia capabilities, but they all work if you run the software. I use it for gaming. The footprint is small, but the keys are large/wide. I have and still beat this thing up playing pistols on Ravenshield, everyday. And I mean everyday! I have many keys that do not work well from all the use, but I have switched out the rubber pieces under the keys that I use in the game for fresh ones from less used keys. It still just kicks and so do I in the game. I highly recommend it if you like to have extra space clear in front of you. I am back at Amazon looking to purchase another one. Adesso pwns!
