The perfect match

I'm fortunate enough to be able to compare this monitor next to my sony 19" crt, at the same time. I run a g4 ti4600 with twin view. I must say this monitor is impressive for an LCD. It will run neck and neck with the trinitron in sharpness and color reproduction. It's only problem is in gaming. It just can't respond fast enough in action games. I fly combat sims and the ghosting is noticable. In first person shooters it's less noticable. With that said I still give it a 5 for it's outstanding sharpness and good looks. One of the best LCD's I've used.
I will also add that viewsonics tech support is verygood. When I contacted them about a driver update question, they were quick to respond and very helpfull.

Very Pleased

This is one great LCD. Excellent quality and performance. I have it sitting next to a 19" sony hd400 crt and it"s hard to see a difference in picture sharpness. I run a gainward g4 ti4600 and have the twinview setup so I can really compare the performance. The only drawback is the "ghosting" that occures in High fps games. In flight sims, you notice it alot more. In first person shooters like Americas Army, it's only noticable when panning and then not very bad. This is not untypical of LCD's. However with this monitors 25ms response time, it is one of the best. I did contact viewsonic about the ghosting and was pleasently suprised by their quick and proffesional response. I would not hesitate to recommend this monitor.

Great Deal / Very Happy

I am obviously very pleased with my purchase of the Viewsonic vx900 lcd monitor. It is very clear and sharp, and I was blown away when I watched dvd movies on it. It is cinema quality, with no dead pixels. The controls are awesome and implicit.
I play online games and this is one area that concerned me. When first installed, movement was blurred because of the slower refresh rate as compared to the crt that this replaced. I installed a new g force 4 128 meg digital video card, and virtually eliminated the blur problem. Analog connection was not the way to go. Easy to set up, and no glare to contend with. Again, very happy.

It's not bad but I had to lower the 5 star review average.

I've been a tech for about 10 years now and this monitor doesn't deserve 5 stars. It's not horrible but I had to lower the average review because those people did not know what to look for.
Problems
- The dot pitch is only .28 so reading text is kinda fuzzy. I've seen perfectly clear 17"'s with .264 mm dot pitch.
- There is "pixelization" when watching movies or viewing images. This is probably due to the dot pitch. It's slight but noticable.
- The response time says .25ms but when watching fast paced DVD's or Games I can see "ghost" images which equate it to about 40ms response time. I heard somewhere that it was a hardware issue with the way they built the outerscreen on the vx900.
Conclusion
I researched other 18" and larger screens but none of them offer the quality I'm used to. Be careful before you buy this. Take a dvd like "Blade II" or "Gladiator" to your local retailer who carries this and test it there to see if you like it first. Also view a text or the windows help file so you can see if the fuzziness is ok with you.

A wonderful display!

I've held off getting a LCD monitor for several years because of the higher price and more importantly the slower response rates of LCD screens (I'm a avid gamer). I took the plunge with the VX900 and I love it. It's response matches my older triniton based Sony CRT monitor but this thing is bigger, brighter and down right beautiful. I believe that this display rivals Apple's awesome Cinema Display at 1/2 the price. You can't go wrong with this monitor!
