Do NOY BUY Viewsonic

(1 out of 5) by Stephen Antonucci on Mar 22, 2005 (New Jersey)
This company is totally unresponsive to warranty problems. I bought this monitor that is listed with a three year warranty. It died in the middle of the 13th month. Even with the Viewsonic web site still showing a three year warranty for this monitor they will NOT honor it, NOW claiming a one year warranty!!! It has been over a week of phone calls, faxes, and emails. NO RESPONSE from a supervisor or anybody else!

I will NEVER buy from Viewsonic again! BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY! I will be contacting better business bureau and others! Terrible service!

The image quality on this monitor is very nice.
Setup took about 5 minutes. Have the PC and Monitor off, connect cables, turn on monitor then PC.. done.. that's all that I had to do :)

There is an option for a wall mount if you are into that. You would have to get that separately though.

Not having a side to side swivel might be a bad point for some people out there, but it matters not at all to me.

Having both a DVI and an RGB connector, you can easily connect 2 computers to this monitor and toggle between them just switching between analog and digital.

Note: Any LCD will have a "native resolution" .. this is the resolution that everything will work best at for that monitor. I would suggest running your systems at that resolution.

As an avid gamer, I was concerned with ghosting and such going from a CRT to an LCD. I was pleasantly surprised that accept for some instances on first person shooter type games with real fast action, I did not notice any ghosting. Another thing to look for is color bleed on LCDs. I play several RPG and MMO games that have pretty graphics on them, and I was concerned that I might lose some of that sharp beauty. To date, I have not noticed any bleed and if anything... the graphics actually look sharper. That is more than likely tied to me playing at 1280x1024 on this 19" LCD as opposed to 1024x768 on a 17" CRT.

Note to CRT users going to an LCD: There is a huge savings in energy used and more importantly (to me) heat generation. The ambient temperature in my office went from 10 degrees warmer than the rest of the house to only about 3 degrees warmer (have 2 computers and replaced a 17" CRT).

One last note: To the person who was complaining about the monitor not going to 1600x1280... if you are looking for a 19" LCD that will do that, you need to quit looking in the middle and low ranges. You are looking at $1100 or more to get into a decent 19" LCD that can handle that resolution at this time.

Wow...

...I did check the reviews here first and have to agree. Setup was a few minutes and the display looks stunning with no bad pixels that I could see. Colors are rich and saturated with excellent blacks and everything is so sharp. I thought my Sony laptop LCD was da bomb, not it looks dowdy compared to this great product. Have not tried the speakers and may not. I also have not gotten into the controls, however I don't think I need to adjust anything at all. Great product, I am a Viewsonic believer now.

Viewsonic VX900

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 19, 2003
After doing a considerable amount of window shopping, I chose the Viewsonic VX900 to replace my faithful 19" Trinitron CRT. This bright LCD monitor reproduces very natural colors and opens up ALOT of space on my desk. I play a number of games on my computer and so it was important that the screen be fast enough to keep up with the action. When I first set the monitor up I had it connected through its analog port and noticed some ghosting when playing games. Later I hooked it up through its DVI port and the monitor showed very little lag. I have been using this monitor daily for 2 weeks now and have found no dead pixels. With Microsoft's Cleartype technology, text on this monitor looks every bit as dark and sharp as it did on my CRT. I've read that the built in speakers are a weak point of this monitor but I can't really comment on that since I chose not hook those up. Overall, I'm very pleased with the VX900 and would recommend it to anyone shopping for a 19" LCD. monitor.

Oh My Gawd! What a monitor!

Just got it yesterday, I'm in awe whenever I use it. DVD's are great, and saves a ton of desk space. On XP Pro, had a little trouble loading the drivers through the ViewSonic Wizard, but went back and installed them through device manager later. No biggie. Didn't hook up the speakers, but connected the cable in case I want to use them with my laptop. ... Love this monitor...
