Auxiliary input and larger size make for a perfect fit

(5 out of 5) by Brian Musgrave on Jan 17, 2006 (Columbia, SC United States)
The JVC KW-XC777 has two main benefits. The first is the auxiliary input on the front of the unit. This allows you to plug in your mp3 player/ipod/laptop into the unit using a 1/8" (3.5mm) mini (headphone) male to male cord. This feature alone was worth having this deck installed.

Secondly, the KW-XC777 is much larger than most units on the market (Double or 2 DIN). Mine fits perfectly into a 2003 Toyota Tacoma without a kit.

Make sure that it will fit your car or truck before you buy - this unit has been around for awhile, and you may not be able to return it.

Installation size is 178mm x 100mm x 150mm, or 7-1/16" x 3-15/16" x 5-15/16" I'd recommend having your local car stereo shop do the installation for you. My guy had it done in 30 minutes.

A quick Amazon search shows only 5 or 6 similarly sized units available, most are either much more expensive w/ DVD and touch screen, or priced about the same. can you pay more for a better unit? Absolutely.

Be advised that this unit will not play back data discs - no mp3 or wma decoder for playback - just regular or burned discs.

A slim, soon-to-be-lost remote is included.

If yours is "pre-owned" like mine, JVC has an extensive library of owner's manuals online, including one for the KW-XC777.

As an alternative to a cassette adapter or FM transmitter (see my review for the Monster Cable iCarPlay Plus) for my iPod the JVC KW-XC777 sounds great and easy to use.

worth it if you still use cassettes and own an mp3 player

(5 out of 5) by Foudini on Oct 1, 2005
If you own an iPod or other player you don't need any expensive extra gadgets to play it through your stereo because it has an input jack right on the face! This was one of the reasons I bought it. So all you need is a simple cord for $5 at any store. it is fantastic.

This is a bigger unit, not skinny and wide like most, so it may or may not fit your dash properly. If, for example, you own a Nissan Altima '98, it will fit perfectly.

I bought this at a local store. I can easily switch from Radio, CDs and Tape/AUX with one touch.

Good Sound

This stereo has mp3 hook up, cd, and cassette. The only problem is sometimes when I hit the volumn button and the disc ejects. Also, the face and buttons started rub away after about two years. Good sound though.
