Definitely a sleeper!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 18, 2003 (Michigan)
I was a little nervous buying the MP704 since I had never heard of Cornea Systems and haven't bought any medium-sized ticket items on-line before. But I needed a new monitor and wanted to try an LCD. So after much research and price comparing, I decided on this 17 inch model. It doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, but I didn't want any - just a quality display. And that is exactly what I got. The combination of the base price plus the rebate plus the deal on shipping from Amazon was the ultimate decision maker. It had decent reviews too, so I was relatively confident in my choice. I received it on time with good packaging. I had a little confusion with loading the driver, but that's likely because my PC is about 5 years old. After a few minutes it was loaded and I was on my way. The manual adjustments are a bit of a pain, but the "auto" feature works great. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the display. It's darn near perfect! I chose black just because that's my preference which made the screen seem almost too bright. But that was easily fixed. I toned down the contrast and brightness a bit from what was "automatically" selected. I highly recommend the MP704. It's definitely worth it as probably are any size of their LCD's.

Great Picture, Great Price, No Frills LCD

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 11, 2003 (Blue Springs, MO United States)
8 Minutes from opening the box to finishing the installation. It doesnt get much easier than that. I did get error messages on the Chromaster Program that said Windows already had a more recent version so I Ignored them. I'm running XP-Home with all available updates, my system has a Radeon 7000 Video Card with only a RGB cable (no DVI), and external speakers/sub. Thus, I didnt need speakers or a DVI input or any of the other frills that differentiate this display from those priced much higher. Trust me the 500:1/250cd spec is plenty! When I fine tuned the monitor settings, I've got the brightness control set on 50 (out of 100) and it may still be too bright for my tastes. No dead pixels at all, easy set up, bright display, sharp resolution, what else do you expect??? And, if I have problems, there's always the 3 year advance cross ship warranty from Cornea! Dont procrastinate any longer, order the MP704, your eyes will thank you!

Very nice inexpensive LCD monitor

(5 out of 5) by Frank C. Rittenhouse on Jan 18, 2003 (St. Charles, MO USA)
This is an excellant, bargain-priced monitor with an above average 3 year guarantee. The display has an exceptional contrast ratio (450:1), is very bright and clear and performs well with both text and video. It worked right out of the box, I didn't need to load drivers or to adjust anything. With the [...] rebate this thing is a steal.

Great bang for the buck

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 4, 2003
I'm very pleased with my new monitor. I did a lot of shopping around and comparing before I bought the cornea MP704B 17" monitor. I was concerned about the 600 cycle noise that someone else had mentioned. I suppose if it's real quiet and I'm focused on it, I can hear something, but otherwise I don't notice it at all. Dead pixels are always a posibility with LCD monitors, and my guess is that shipping is normaly the cause. My monitor showed up in perfect working condition. Not that it's a real issue. Amazon has such a good track record for customer service that I never gave it a second thought that they would let me return it if I was unhappy. So the bottom line is that if you just want a great monitor without any bells and whistles, this is the one to buy. it has a sleek look. I also like the fact that the screen is almost as big as the monitor itself so there is not a very big frame around the screen. I suppose this could be considered a drawback if your one of those people with 15 post-it notes stuck to your monitor.
