I love great, high-quality sound but didn't want a trunk full of amps. I knew that if I could find a amp to power all 5 speakers with descent power, I would be good to go. I have Alpine component speakers on the doors, Eclipse 6X9's in back, and a dual 12" subwoofer box in the trunk. The Kenwood KAC959 fit that need perfectly. It has more than enough clean volume level for listening inside your vehicle and also being able to hear music while just outside of your vehicle. The specs are very good - very low harmonic distortion, great signal-to-noise-ratio, and a ignition thump filter. The amp barely gets warm to the touch and never hot.

You get the usual high-pass and low-pass filters, subwoofer crossover, and stereo/mono mode. The only missing feature that would have been nice to have is a bass boost control.

So unless you are one of the many foolish ones destined to lose precious hearing by playing music loud enough to be heard by everyone within a 200 foot radius, I highly recommend this amplifier. I've been using this amp for 2 years as of this writing. No problems at all. I've even blown it's protection fuse a couple of times due to wire crossing during installation and it still works like new. The fuse did its job before getting into the electronics of the amp.

Best of all, I got a used one for $100 on Amazon.com!
