I have not yet tried to record, but I have played a couple movies and I am very happy with it so far, good sound & picture quality. Very easy to set up.
I would recommend this to any one who is looking for a quality inexpensive VCR!.
I gave it 4 stars just because the remote is one of the worst looking things that I have seen yet, RCA could have done better.

If you only want to play tapes then this is OK, but recording is aweful. The picture is bad and on slow speed the sound is really low, causing one to have to crank the volume and therefore deal with hissing. On regular speed, things get worse... their is a low annoying hum along with lots of hissing. The remote is very tempremental as well. I find myself just going to the machine to get it to do stuff as the remote signal is weak.
RCA VCR

Received my new RCA VCR in record time, only 3 days after payment. The remote operates both the VCR and my RCA tv. It's nice to be able to use one remote instead of two or more. A great feature is the clock that automatically sets according to your time zone. All online directions are easy to follow. It's great to have a VCR that requires no knowlege to operate. I would highly recommend using this seller.

Easy to set-up and operate. No problems encountered, however, unit is still new. A few remote function buttons could be better identified. Also, remote compatibility to control both TV & VCR is very limited; separate remote required to operate my Magnavox TV.

We do not have cable in our apartment, but get good reception on our TV using an antenna. However, we do NOT get good reception when we try to run the signal from the antenna to the VCR. This means that we CANNOT RECORD anything on TV, and that was the only reason I bought a VCR.
