Most Helpful First | Newest First | + ShareAffordable and stylish. Sure beats my old CD player.
The size of the player is nice, allowing trouble-free use while in your pocket or bag. It comes with a handy remote (another feature I was looking for), so I don't need to fish out the player when I want to skip a track. The only downside with the remot is that it doesn't have a pause button, but this was only a small annoyance.
In terms of sound and bass, it is up there with the best of them. My music taste is so eclectic that sometimes I require a lot of bass while other times I do not. No matter what I listen to, the sound is crystal clear. The anti-skip mechanism works like a charm, and I have yet to hear a skip.
My only real pet peeve with this player is the horrible ear buds that they provide with the player. The length of cord going to the left bid is shorter than the one going to the right. ... Otherwise, I am totally satisfied with this CD player.
Panasonic SL-CT790
SL-CT790 caught my eye. Met all of my criterias. I've had mine for almost six months and it runs just fine. I knew that it was thin, but when I got it I was still amazed at it's thickness compared to my old one. I also liked the aluminum cover. You don't see metal used for equipment like this anymore. The remote is easy to read and makes changing tracks during the night easy because of EL lit screen. I always get comments about how high-tech it looks and how thin it is.
There are a couple of gripes I have with it though. The player itself doesn't have a screen, so you don't know what track you're playing if you're not using the remote. The buttons on the player are too small and hard to press. The aluminum cover can dent easily if you're not careful.
These are problems are small and rarely come up because I run with the remote anyhow and keep the player in a case. This is a great player if you're traveling because it is light and small. The price is a bit prohibitive and you can find ones that are cheaper, yet have more features. However, if style is high on your list, this is definately worth a look.
Best CD Player I've Ever Owned
1. Even though I charged the batteries just as the manual instructed, my Nimh's die after 4-5hrs. i've found that using my AA adaptor gives the player 3 or 4X longer life. But maybe I messed up the intial charge somehow
2. the remote has no pause button. tapping the multi function button could easilly have been pause, instead, it is stop and holding it turns it off. i don't think that was smart.
3. i dented the metal lid one day in the metro, it was in my pocket. it doesn't affect the playback at all, but why is it so bendable?
4. it does skip. i cant bring it running, or even walk briskly with the battery any less than full.
5. it plays non-stop in my school bag. its frustrating when you bag is singing the white stripes when you're studying. worse still, is the realization that it's been on for 4 hours. i keep both the remote and the player 'hold' buttons on, but somehow...
it is slim, it looks great, the sound is great, the volume is loud enough for us normal non brain-is-pulp-from-45volume people, and it has this awesome plug connection to the player. you can drop it and provided it doesn't hit the ground, it won't be damaged because the headphone plug stays connected. i've scared myself so many times watching the player fall only to dangle at the bottom of the cord in mid-air. nice touch panasonic!
Overall a great player
This cd player does not skip. I was walking along one day and i accidentally dropped it. It hit the pavement hard and did not skip at all. I am very satisfied with this cd-player. The remote is an extremely useful feature, although it could use a pause function. However, if you turn the cd player off for only a short time then turn it back on, it will take you to the same track that had been playing. I love this cd-player and obviously this review reflects my opinion that this is a great deal. Though the original headphones are a bit annoying, mostly because I don't like earbuds and the cord was a bit short, it is simple to replace the headphones. Don't let a detail like that turn you off from this great player.
