A great system for the price

(4 out of 5) by C. MacGregor on Jul 29, 2002 (Seabrook, Texas USA)
My wife and I bought our SC-HT75 over the weekend at Best Buy (our old DVD player gave up the ghost on Friday) and we could not be happier. The SC-HT75 was a breeze to set up and within 30 minutes (mainly spent removing the four components that this system replaced) we were up and watching DVDs again. There are a couple of issues that I have with this system, the one-at-a-time disc loading tray is a cumbersome pain, and the lack of cable/satalite controls on the remote is another, but the sound more than makes up for it. Our den now sounds better than the local movie theater, and for that the price is more than worth it.

Excellent system--except for one point

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Sep 24, 2002 (New York, NY USA)
This is an excellent system, incredible sound, easy setup. But there is a glaring omission. No digital audio input for digital cable or satellite. Just analog. That means you cannot experience full 5.1 surround on digital cable or satellite, just DVD.

Good for the price, weak on MP3's

(3 out of 5) by Paul on Nov 21, 2002 (Philadelphia, PA)
I have had no trouble with the system, and think it sounds and works quite well for the price. I have had it for two weeks now. It does not reproduce deep bass well, but for this price, that would be a lot to ask. It also is not progressive scan and does not have component video out, though it does have s-video out. I would not complain about that as Panasonic is upfront that it is not progressive scan, and for this price, who could expect it? Two complaints; 1) It is weak on MP3 functionality. It does not have on screen folder and title selection for MP3 discs. So when I put my disc in with 12 folders and 125 songs, I have to select tracks by number only. 1, 2, 3, . . . 124, 125. There is nothing to tell me the song title or even what folder within the disc the song lives in. Also no shuffle play or song lists for songs on an audio cd. 2) It does not have adequate tone control. It has a nice digital reverb/sound field emulator, just no direct control of even bass and treble that I have found. Good value, that's it.

Think twice

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Oct 10, 2002
I bought this system over the weekend. It worked for a couple hours, then it started to freeze up. It wasn't able to read ANY dvd's or cd's, it wouldn't let me change the cd or even open it. Luckily after turning it off and on a few times I was able to get all of my cd's out. I assumed I had just gotten a "bad one" and went back and exchanged it for the same model, minutes after hooking it up I was having the exact same problems.

Easy Set Up

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jul 12, 2002
This system is surprisingly easy to set up!
Overall sound is very goog for DVD's.
Good for CD's but listening to the TV through this system has proven to be somewhat of a challenge.
