Withstands even MY workouts

(5 out of 5) by E. dawson on Dec 21, 2002 (Arlington, Texas United States)
I have had this model of Sony CD player for about 18 months now,and it is still going strong.Mind you,I workout about three hours a day, very grueling, sweaty workouts, and have had NO problems. The batteries seem to get good mileage.MY CD/RW cds play well. One caveat-the AVS sound protection thing comes on fairly easily-which lowers the volume considerably(which can be a drag during a workout),But I set the hold button at the beginning of my session, and have no problems that way.I have been VERY satisfied with this product, and when it DOES go caput,I will definitely buy another one.

there IS a pause button

(4 out of 5) by fb on Feb 10, 2003
the reviews submitted by others are in part, inaccurate. there is a "pause" button. however, it is not it's own button. you must press the stop button. to commence, press play, and the music will pick up where it left off - just like it would with a pause button. i love this cd player - especially for such a great price.

Surprisingly good!

(5 out of 5) by Elizabeth Kyparisis on Dec 25, 2002 (Miami, FL USA)
I got this CD player for Christmas. In my opinion, it's the best CD player that [a modest amount of money]can buy! Though it lacks an AM/FM radio, it has several features that make it worth buying. Firstly, it has crystal clear sound. This is partially because of the great headphones-they are curiously designed with only one wire rather than two, and they wrap around your ears to ensure that they stay on your head. The only difference between the CD walkman's photo and the actual CD player is the color-it's actually a darker red, but the color will not bother you when you experience the CD player's quality. You are given the choice of two levels of bass, or no bass at all. The CD player has no pause button; you press stop and then play instead. Most find this detail annoying, but I like the fact that you can stop the CD player and play it from where you left off. This CD player has never skipped once-not even when I shook it repeatedly. The design is also neat-it doesn't look like plastic; it looks rather metallic. It's worth every penny!

Not only did the vendor send me a slightly used CD player, but also included was a Music CD and two magazines. Nice treat.

My second one

(5 out of 5) by Joseph Davis on Jun 28, 2005 (Gardner, MA)
I love this thing. I've had it for 3 years and it's great. It died on me a couple night ago, but I never had too many problems with it. I've dropped it hundreds of times and it doesn't skip, even with ESP off. The sound quality's great. My Duracell's last at least 5 or 6 days and I use it constantly. And that's why I'm buyin a second one.
