Great, but missing a key feature

(5 out of 5) by John Balsam on Sep 7, 2002 (Mullet Falls, VA)
This cd player is great, but it is missing a key feature....The "PAUSE" button. What the [heck] did Sony do with it? They left the volume limiting system on, which i have yet to use on the 3 Sony cd players i have owned over the last 6 years. The closest thing to pause is the "resume" function, where u hit "STOP" and then hit "PLAY" again, wait 5 seconds, and your music will resume from where u hit stop. I find it hard to believe that Sony would intentionally get rid of such a key feature, but im no expert. Other than that small flaw, this Walkman is amazing. It looks good (I have the radium gold model), sounds great, and comes with the street style headphones that wrap around the back of your head. Those headphones alone are almost [price]. Overall, this is a great unit and i recommend it.

Best CD Player I Have Ever Owned

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 13, 2003 (Rockford,MN)
This is the best CD player I have ever owned. This CD player has never skipped I can jump on my trampoline with it and it still won't skip.I have dropped it on the bus once and it still didn't skip. People have been complaing about a pause button not being there, but it doesn't really matter, I mean you stop it and then press play and then 1 and a half sec. later it starts back up. As for the sound, better than some stereos. The volume goes up to 9 but there are 3 levels on each number so it is actually 27. The headphones that come with it are the greatest, they are so good I can have it on level 9 durong silent reading and the teacher doesn't hear. This an overall stupendous CD player and it is worth at least $100. Buy it!

Excellent quality

(5 out of 5) by Radha T. on Sep 21, 2006 (Costa Rica)
I bought this CD player about 5 years ago, and it's still going in great condition. I don't use it on a very regular basis, which is probably one of the reasons it's lasted so long. My brother, however, can break anything he gets his hands on, and he had one that lasted for at least three years. He used it nearly every day. He dropped it more times than I can count, stepped on it, and broke the top cover off, and it still played perfectly without skipping. Even when you run with it it doesn't skip. I like the Hold function, which allows you to stick it in a backpack without the buttons getting pushed and changing your settings. I have never had trouble with the headphone jack, and neither did my brother. There's no pause button, but when you press Stop it remembers where you were and starts there again, so it's basically the same thing. Overall, I would highly reccomend this CD player.

My little player...

(4 out of 5) by Kenneth Baucum on Apr 15, 2006 (Tulsa, OK)
I have really enjoyed owning this cd player...like others who have commented, I too wish it had a pause button. However, on the bright side, it won't drain your batteries, I have forgotten plenty of players on pause and for this I love the "automatic power off/pause/stop button." My player is of the Ruby red variety and has absolutely NEVER skipped a beat of music! I promise. I and I friend tried once, but to no avail. It is practically perfect in every way (sound like Mary Poppins).
Good luck to anyone purchasing a fine piece of equipment such as this.
