Great value!
I just received the Koss C220 home theater system. We ordered it for our college aged son's apt. We opened it when it arrived to be sure it worked okay before forwarding it to him in another state.
I had promised my wife we would return the unit if it seemed "cheap". I read a review and switched from a more expensive unit I was sold on and tried the Koss.
I have the reference M&K THX system and was afraid she was expecting the same kind of quality. We were both amazed at the quality and value of the unit. It may blow up tomorrow but initial response to the product is amazement. Don't let the low price scare you off

OK for the Price
Sorry, but I think the sound quality is only mediocre at best. I am not an audophile, but I do have certain expectations. These speakers are basically just computer monitor speakers. As a result, they are most certainly tinny. Don't expect a full, rich sound. For videos, this is OK because voices fall into the midrange sound category, but, oh man, can it sound harsh during an action sequence. And if you want to use this as a receiver, the sound quality of musical reproduction may dissapoint. I bought this as a ... vehicle to break into DVD \ Surround Sound. ... I think I got about as much as could be expected and I am not disappointed - but I got what I payed for. Don't expect anything more. Just by way of comparison, Radio Shack sells small monitor speaker brackets to hold the speakers up on the wall for $ 30 each (yeah, *each*). Do the math; the little bracket costs more than the speakers themselves. This system is fine for the college kid, or the basement "secondary" set-up, or the family who just wants the dvd \ sense surround without the high quality and accompanying price. I also agree with another reviewer that the fan is surprisingly loud and if you listen closely to the speakers, you can actually hear a noise impulse that seems to be consistent with the fan rotation - suggesting really poor isolation in the electronics. My two sense worth...

Pretty Good System
This is a pretty good system for a meduim sized room or apartment. The sub isn't all that loud, but if you get another sub to go with it it sounds very good. I have had this system for about a year and it has satified me a great deal. I recommend people to buy this item because its afforadable, reliable, and has three things in one! (radio, dvd, and cd players) You can't beat a better deal for the quality you get from this item.

Affordable Sound for the Home
I cant complain. I was sort of worried that there wouldnt be enough intputs (because i found it hard to find schematics and pictures of the back of this unit), but there are two sets of inputs and one set of outputs. So ive got my Playstation 2 and TV. All the sound from my TV gets redirected through the Speakers.
The sound quality is very good, ive listened to some of my CD's on it, testing it with classical to Heavy metal. All of which sound marvelous. Ive even had complaints from next door that they can hear it too well. You cant beat this unit for it's price! Its got a DVD player and an MP3 Player built in!

Pretty darn nice...
The sound of this system is superb and it's very easy to setup. However, after using it for several weeks now I've found a few downfalls which are really just annoyances, not problems. 1)The receiver has a tendancy to get relatively warm after a long period of time. 2)I hate the fact that if you switch to the radio, TV or VCR you can't open the DVD tray. 3)The tray takes forever to open... I hate waiting. That's really about it. The radio was an added bonus and the price was right.
