Brilliant product even on old P3 450Mhz

(5 out of 5) by Saeed A. Siddiki on Mar 10, 2004 (Riyadh, KSA)
The only irony like the two previous users mentioned, is that there r some inconsistencies with the software drivers. I realized the system becoming slightly slower in performance (but then again these peripherals were optimized for the new P4 etc.) I use it daily especially with external hard drives and Bluetooth and printers and numerous devices.

I am fiddling now with video feeds via the firewire. Am sure it will be flawless. If anyone is considering a good upgrade to older machines, then get this card! (after a memory upgrade this would b the most sensible upgrade one can do)

Installation problematic, but great for what it is

(3 out of 5) by Pratik Dave on Nov 6, 2003 (New York, NY, USA)
As did several of the others who have reviewed this product, I had trouble getting it to work. It allocates a bunch of IRQs and apparently didn't appreciate sharing a case with my video card. I called Adaptec support, spoke with a helpful technical support guy, and after hanging up made a relatively easy bios change that made everything work fine.

Because USB2 and Firewire cards separately cost about as much as this card and would end up taking two slots I think that if you're comfortable possibly having to troubleshoot installation problems it's well worth it.

Adaptec AUA-3121

(5 out of 5) by SVAZ Developer on Apr 1, 2003 (Sierra Vista, AZ USA)
I am running Windows 2K Pro. I bought the Adaptec AUA-3121 USB 2.0/1394 Combo Card. I openned the box. I read the instructions. I followed the instructions. Everything works perfectly. Went smooth as silk.

Also note that I have Belkin USB 4 port expander. Since installing/using the expander my Logitech Quick Cam has "complained" of insufficient bandwith. I have since moved it to one of the USB 2 ports on the Adaptec card. I now have a happy Logitech camera also.

I rate this card as first class. READ THE README file and installation instrcutions!

Does everything you ask

Easy to install, comes with a neat little USB utility, and provides painless upgrade to USB 2.0 and Firewire. Doesn't do anything glamorously, just well.

Great All-in-One Card

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Dec 24, 2002 (SAN JOSE, CA United States)
Can't complain. On my Windows XP pro machine, it works perfectly. Been recently downloading camcorder tapes using the firewire port.

One confusing feature is that the USB is supposed to be downward compatible to the old 1.1 standard. When I put in my trusty USB cable, my machines asks me to insert the device's driver. What gives. nonetheless, it's a minor nuisance, but still runs well, despit this quik.

A great plus is that it also comes with afirewire cord--that's [$$$] right there! A true "bargain" card.
