great sound at this size, if a little large

(4 out of 5) by E. Schenkelberg on Jan 29, 2008 (Los Angeles, CA)
Replaced the 22 yr old OE front dash speakers in a Mercedes 300TD with these and the difference is staggering, as expected. I have other 4" speakers elsewhere and none of them produce the detail and low end that these do. Really remarkable for a speaker of this size at this price. I expect that from Boston and Polk speakers but the sound from these cannot be beaten at this price point. They seem to get ragged at the upper end of the head unit's volume range (17W) but that probably has as much to do with a small amp as it does these speakers. I'd expect that driving them from a 50W amp would produce eve better results.

The magnet is large (which has a lot to do with the excellent low end) and the mounting depth is a bit daunting (1.88") but if you can fit them in, I highly recommend these speakers. fwiw, they were too tall to be used in the rear of the 300TD; I had to go with a pair of Pyles specifically meant for slim OE applications. Those sound far better than stock but cannot match these Pyramids at all.

If you've got the room for these, do it!

Great speakers for low cost

I replaced the stock 4" speakers in a 92 Toyota pickup with these Pyramids and have had great results. The sound is clear and loud enough to drive with the windows down and still hear everything.

I listen to everything ranging from hip hop to metal to talk radio and books on CD. These speakers are perfect for my little truck and if they ever need to be replaced I will buy the same ones.

good value in speakers

Good deal. My wife's 1987 Volvo is noisy enough at this point that these are great for her vehicle. Inexpensive, loud enough and pretty good tone.
