A truly impressive lap top

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 24, 2002
This is an incredible lap top for the price. I have this iBook and a Dell Inspiron. Both do the same stuff, but the iBook is lighter, more portable, the battery lasts for 4 hours. All for half the price of the Dell.

I am really very impressed. The iBook is a truly portable computer, and a very useful one: you may burn your own CD's, watch a DVD, and also the Microsoft Office for Mac runs very fast in this computer, so you may make a presentation, write a book, or do anything you want. Did I mention that it had preloaded three spectacular 3D games?

The "bang for the buck" ratio is unbelievable.

Love the iBook

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 21, 2002
The iBook is very easy to use and has enough power to store and run everything I have needed. I even store all of my digital pictures on it and have enough memory left to run programs at full speed. Connecting to internet is easy as well.
I love my iBook!!

Don't buy this computer

(5 out of 5) by Tom Fernandes on Mar 1, 2002 (Gloucester, MA USA)
If you have lived your whole life in the shadow of Microsoft then you will truly understand how foolish you were to wait this long to buy the i book. I have a PC, laptop, and now an i book, and recently set up a wireless network. Using an SMC7004AWBR router to work off of my PC, it took me about 2 hours to configure both my PC and laptop to work correctly. On the ibook, it took me all of 2 minutes to install the air port card, 5 minutes to install the software, and another minute to restart the machine and have it autoconfigure to the wireless network. This has been the same story on every application or change with using this i book so far. Without a doubt I am a closet mac fan now.

Best Mac I've ever had.

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 13, 2002
I opted for the entry level iBook with CD-ROM (but immediately added an additional 256MB of RAM) because I already own an external CD-RW. This laptop matches or exceeds the capabilities of my office mate's Xyzz laptop (which costed twice the price) for almost every spec one can come up with.
I use it to maintain our College's website (in part when travelling on the train). With the addition of a USB mouse it compares well with a desktop machine but takes much less space. Soon, my office iMac will sit in a corner being a network server.

My favorite Mac

(5 out of 5) by Michael Lane on Apr 23, 2002 (KANEOHE, HI USA)
This is a great computer. I have owned seven Macs over the last 14 years, and this is my favorite. It is easy to use, beautiful, and fast enough (once more memory is added) to meet most business tasks. OS X is wonderful - it never crashes.
