I recommend this unit because it handles just about every type of power spike/outage that can be thrown at it. It safely shuts down the PC during prolonged outages. It works when my other (3 times more expensive) units failed.
NUTS & BOLTS:
Throughout the 6 months I have been using this unit I have had absolutely no problems. I originally used it on my PC. It worked fine. I gave this unit to Judy when I decided to buy two higher capacity units. (Big mistake -- See my nightmarish review of the APC Conext Battery Back Up 900 AVR Model CNB900). Where the new (more expensive model) units failed, this unit continued to work.
When FPL bounces power on Friday mornings, this unit has kept Judy's machine up, while mine are rebooting. When a DUI hit a transformer in January, and the power went out for 75 minutes, this unit initiated a shutdown after 30 seconds through PowerChute. (BTW: You can configure PowerChute to initiate shutdown for more or less time, but 30 seconds seems optimal.)
After my most recent ordeal with my larger units, and after replicating the error on these larger units by unplugging the electrical service at the fuse box, this little 350VA unit continued to keep Judy's PC and monitor up, even though it too was on the same circuit.
This inspired me to write this review. To be accurate, I decided to look under her desk with a flashlight for the exact model number to give credit where credit was due. There, beneath a powdery layer of 5 months of dust was the little white label with model number: BE350C.
I heartily recommend this to anybody wanting to extend the life of their computer, while making their own lives simpler.
