perfect cable for S-video

(5 out of 5) by Brian J. Hillier on Dec 11, 2001 (La Jolla, CA United States)
This cable is typical Monster. Perfect. But pricey as well.

One thing which is not obvious is its optical digital capability. Hidden in the end of the connector which connects to the xbox is an output for digital audio (That cable is not included by the way). But its nice to know that if I do end up buying a digital capable receiver I do not need to buy a new cable. Its performance has been wonderful. The 10 foot cable could be useful too.

I also purchased the comparable product by Microsoft, the Advanced A/V pack. I ended up returning it even though it is about half the price. The microsoft one is just plain junky and poorly designed. They divide up the connection into two stages. First the large connector leads out of the xbox and with a ~1.5 foot lead leads to a large ugly box. You then connect up all the cables to this box and to your TV. Its just a mess of cables at this point. I like simplicity and the Monster Cable has it. It fits me perfect. But pricey.

not really worth the money

(2 out of 5) by Akhenatonio on Jan 27, 2004 (Poughkeepsie, NY United States)
Yes these are Monster cables. Yes Monster Cables are better quality than ordinary cables, but the difference between Svideo and Composite is not something to jump for joy about. The differences between Component and Composite is astronomical, and between Svideo is noticeable. If you get these cables, you won't really notice a significant difference in picture quality, (especially if your RCA cables are gold plated and top of the line). I have a Sony 27in Trinitron Television. Connecting my Xbox directly into the Svideo jack didn't do what I thought it would. I was looking for Computer like clarity, and didn't get it. Neither will you. If you ever purchase an HDTV with component inputs, the difference will be there. Until then, don't waste your money. It might be a good idea to get the Gamelink Optical adapter for Dobly 5.1 sound however. Oh, if you have component inputs on your television then buy the XGL400 not the XGL300.

Oh My Gosh What A Difference!

(5 out of 5) by Eddie on Feb 11, 2002 (Ventura, CA USA)
Well this is my first monster cable I have ever purchased in my life. I just got a 61" 4:3 Projection Screen Television and it had S-Video Hookup's in the back of it. I was like "Nah, forget it, I'll be happy with my stand alone stock video cables and just connected it for the day. Oh my gosh it was just horrible! I seriously needed new cables and was wondering just how different in quality a S-Video cable is going to make since this is my first console that I wanted to test out with a S-Video Cable. I was going to get the x-box S-Video Cable, but thank god for the cool reviews from people who let us know ahead of time. So I just pulled back by the "okay" reviews I was reading on the official x-box s-video cables and noticed that Monster Cable made S-Video cables so I was like I'll get these (at Best Buy) until I saw the Price!!! 40 Bucks for Cables!!!! I was like I'll hold off, come home, boot up the computer and check it out to see if it had any reviews. It had 5 stars and I read of course. I hoped in my car and drove to Best Buy and picked them up and deff. saved my receipt! Tried out the cables and I was in a sudden Awe... Wow!!! What a difference they made. Made most of the difference on Halo, DVD Moves, Project Gothem, and to be honest every other game I have for my x-box. Get these cables!! You will not be disappointed! I know they are very expensive (to me), but the s-video made a phenomenal difference on my TV. This is also my first reviewand just had to write something on these cables. Hope it helped.

Must Have

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 18, 2002
Simply put this cable is a must have for the XBOX! In my opinion, Monster Cable is the best in the business for audio and/or video cables. Yes, they are a little pricey, but you get what you pay for here. The quality of this cable is top notch. If your TV has S Video Ins, trash the standard a/v cable that comes with the system. What a difference! You gotta get this cable. Peace.

a must have for serious home theater

(5 out of 5) by Jared T. Skarda on Jan 23, 2002 (Baltimore, Maryland United States)
I bought an X-box mainly because my original DVD player went up. I figured for about the same price as a DVD player I could buy an X-box and get the ability to play video games. I've always used Monster Cable for my home theater needs. It is simply the best. The X-box cable is no exception. If your television has an S-Video connection then you are selling yourself short by not using it. The x-box doesn't come with S-Video cable, so if you're going to buy it, you might as well spend the extra cash and get the best. It's well worth it, and it still costs less than a game that you might get tired of after a couple hours.
