Junk CDR's - will not burn at rated speed!

(1 out of 5) by Eric T. Zinn on Jan 4, 2002 (Brooklyn, New York United States)
I bought 3 spindles of this brand CDR rated at 16X at Circuit City to use with my new 12-10-32X TDK CDR/RW Burner in late August. I wanted to use them to copy my collection of Music CDs. I tried to burn at 12X but no go! I went down to 8X, then 4X then finally 2X. Finally they burned OK at 2X. I wrote that off as it being harder to burn Audio Disks than Data Disks. (WHAT DID I KNOW AT THAT POINT?). After using one spindle, I used some 'name brand' CDR disks and to my surprise, they burned music at the full 12X! I contacted the company (STI) by email and got a reply that "yes they would warrant them but it would cost too much to ship the 2 remaining spindles back to California". In effect...DON'T BOTHER!!
I 'conned' Circuit City into taking the 2 remaining spindles back even after the exchange period was over by several months. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK!! The importer (STI) will not stand behind the product! I have now used other 'No-Name' CDR's that do burn at 12X so if you go this route and find a disk does not work at the rated speed in your burner, save the receipt and take them/send them back for a refund.
