Good product for a good price

(4 out of 5) by Sean P. Logue on Mar 20, 2002 (Research Triangle Park, NC USA)
I bought this toothbrush because I was considering buying one of the more expensive, premium models, and I wasn't sure whether I wanted a Braun 3D unit or a Sonicare. I needed to replace my manual toothbrush regardless, which is a Braun Cross-Action (by far the best manual toothbrush I've tried, and I was using a Radius manual that cost three times as much before I tried the Cross-Action). I thought that for a bit more money I could try out the Braun without the large monetary commitment required for the 3D version or the Sonicare.

Well, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I was concerned that the tiny little brushhead would take forever to brush with, but it turns out that the compact size together with the electric brushing action makes short work of the process. The handle is great too, with rubber inserts for easy grip, and is waterproof enough to rinse off in the sink. Plus, there isn't a problem with using regular toothpaste with it, which has been a negative for electric brushes in the past. My five year old Interplak, for example, would jam if used with toothpaste.

The price is great too, with the entire brush costing less than a Sonicare replacement brush pack (and that pack doesn't include the toothbrush!).

It does have one negative, though, and that's the noise. I find noise while I'm trying to use something very irritating, and this is no exception. It is really quite loud, especially when holding it right next to your head, as when brushing teeth. However, that negative applies to electric brushes in general so just keep in mind that this is one of the tradeoffs to using an electric over a manual model.

Overall, highly recommended.

Best Brushing Experience

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 19, 2001
This new toothbrush by Oral B is the best I've tried, both for effectiveness at cleaning and for ease of use. I have grown to love battery toothbrushes - they're so much faster at cleaning my teeth than me standing there scrubbing up and down with a regular toothbrush. I have bought some of the [cheaper] versions, but those seem really fake to me - like someone just threw some bristles on a vibrating stick. The Oral B brush seems well designed and thought out.

An awesome electronic toothbrush

(5 out of 5) by catdogkidsfirst on Dec 26, 2001 (USA)
It works great and I don't have too worry about brushing my teeth & gums too hard. From what I have heard, using an electronic toothbrush works better for your teeth than using a regular non electronic toothbrush. The shape of the toothbrush makes it easy to brush your teeth in hard to reach spots in your mouth.

Brushes well but rattles head

(3 out of 5) by Charles White on Feb 13, 2004 (Pennsylvania)
We've owned a dearly departed rechargable Braun toothbrush for years. I'm bothered that they welded the case together so completely that it's impossible to replace the now worn-out NiCd battery with a new one without destroying the case. Then I saw this AA-powered model for really cheap. "A good solution!", I thought, especially for the international travel that I do. (AA- NiMH cells run my world.) So now I've had time to evaluate this little machine.

1. It really brushes your teeth and gums, just like it's big brother. No complaints there. Brush with this and you're shiny clean.

2. It really rattles your head! It appears to run at a much higher motor speed than its rechargable big brother. The old scrubbing oscillation of my first Braun is now a blurry buzz. I'm considering making up a "dummy" AA cell, just a piece of metal, so that it runs on only one cell instead of two. Maybe that will slow it down enough to be more comfortable.

Excellent power brush!!

(5 out of 5) by Marty Huntzberry on Oct 7, 2002 (Philadelphia, PA USA)
I love this toothbrush! For years I used a regular toothbrush and I've been left with a couple filled cavities and a dead capped tooth. The rotating action of the brush head on this power toothbrush is so thorough. I can feel how clean my teeth are after I use it. No more cavities! A great feature of this Braun-OralB is that the blue indicator on the bristles allow you to see when it needs to be replaced. This brush has made excellent tooth care easier than ever!

I would definitely recommend this brush to a friend!!
