Great Flat Panel Monitor

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 22, 2002
After doing some research and looking at various monitors I decided on the NEC 1550V. For the price it is an excellent deal and seemed to perform the best. When I first saw the model the 1550v replaced, the 1530v, in the store I was amazed at the picture quality. This monitor shares that same excellent picture quality.

Setup was a snap and the picture is incredible. Vibrant colors, even backlighting and quick refresh all make this monitor a joy to use. I have had no problems using it with work applications and the screen is fast enough to use with games as well (though I am not a hard-core gamer, it definitely seems fine to me). I've noticed less eye strain and fatigue using this LCD for long periods of time. All in all, a great deal and I will never go back to a CRT. Highly recommended.

Views from LCD land

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Nov 28, 2001
This should be the newest 15 inch LCD in the NEC/Mitsubishi line up. I believe it is replacing the 1530V.
I just hooked up my NEC 1550V, and man does it look good. The text is razor sharp, and the display contrast is brilliant right from the factory. The monitor auto adjusts upon installation, so little user input is necessary. I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein on this monitor and the graphics were gorgeous. The detail of the weapons was exquisite. Default resolution is 1024 X 768 @75hz. LCD is the way to go. Don't deprive your senses any longer. Order today! Great monitor at a great price!

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 11, 2002
This was my first flat panel monitor and I purchased it based on the reviews of CNET and it's customers, plus it looked cool.
My first impression of the monitor when I open the package was that the pictures did not do it justice. It looks FREAKIN SWEEEET! The view was a lot larger than I expected for a 15 inch. I connected the black monitor to my new Dell 8200 with the nVidia 64MB GeForce4 ti-4200 and had no trouble during setup. The resolution automatically optimized itself. The controls panel is easy to use. Text is very clear and DVD's and games experience no "ghosting". I also use it to edit photos and it works well so far. I have my monitor set to half brightness so contrast is not a problem. Great monitor at any price.

Just what I wanted

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 30, 2002
I searched all over for a lcd monitor that would save space on our desk at home and not drain our bank account too much. The NEC Multisynch 1550V is just what I wanted.

It may not have the super high-end resolution of other monitors but I really don't need that for basic writing, surfing, presentations, etc. The price was right and the black model that we bought looks great sitting on top of our black IBM NetVista. Everyone who comes into our home office comments on how great it looks and then notes how crisp and bright the pictures on the screen appear.

Set up was a major pain, but after many hours I deduced that the issue was a glitch in the Microsoft Windows ME operating system and NOT a problem with the monitor. A visit to the Microsoft tech support page ultimately provided the instructions to fix my system.

I would buy it again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good looking, easy to set-up, space saving and basic everyday use monitor.

Great Service

(5 out of 5) by Todd Spivak on Dec 6, 2002 (Hyde Park, NY)
I have been more than pleased in the five months I've had the monitor. Recently, there was some color distortion in a corner (dark greys were light). I called technical support and the rep. was extremly helpful. After he deemed that my problem was no easy fix that I could do over the phone, he said that he would ship a refurbished monitor to me free of charge 2nd day air. I just had to pay the [money] shipping to return my current one and they took my credit card number to hold in case I didn't return my semi-broken one. All I had to do was pack up my old monitor in the box that the new one came in and it was a done deal. My new monitor looks great and I couldn't be more happy with their customer support. GREAT WARRANTY!
