Dreaded H02 error after two years

(1 out of 5) by Patrick R. Bowman on Oct 13, 2003 (Knoxville, TN)
Last this weekend, I also encountered the dreaded H02 error. Until that occurred, this player worked great. This is the third DVD player to go out on me. I had two RCA players die within a year of each other, and I thought I was finally replacing them with something reliable. Given how inexpensive these players have become, it would cost the same or more to get it fixed than to just replace it. I just purchased a Sony. Let's hope for the best.

The H03 Error Has Struck Again

(1 out of 5) by cypherp on May 12, 2004 (Goldsboro, NC)
Bought this baby about 18 months ago. It always played DVDs fine. The only problem I ever had until tonight was the MP3 playback. If I stuck in a CD filled with MP3s, then the first 10 or so would play fine, then all subsequent tracks would skip and play distorted. This happened with multiple tests with different brands of CDRs, all containing 600MB or so of MP3s.

However, tonight, while playing a rental, it suddenly stopped playback towards the end of the movie. Now it will not play, read, or even open it's door to render the rental back to me. It displays a lovely "H03" message. I've been through power cycles, unplugging, etc., nothing works. I'm very disappointed in this DVD player...I'm a bit angry right now, but I feel strongly that a piece of electronic equipment such as this should have a longer lifespan, especially if one has taken excellent care of it, as I have. I've had plenty of other consumer electronic equipment such as stereo components, televisions, camcorders, VCRs, etc. that have lasted many many years.

*** 4/19/2007 UPDATE ***
For all those who have given up hope...I did end up getting this DVD player working again, and it STILL works 3 years later!!! The way I did it was by removing the outer case, by taking out the necessary screws. There is a white plastic circular "thing" in there. I spun it around a bunch (but gently) with my finger. Then I re-attached the case, and I have NEVER had any more problems. You might want to search around on the web for a better technical description before attempting this. BTW, I'm pretty sure I updated this the same night 3 years ago with this information, but perhaps Amazon didn't approve of it? Best of luck!

Bad recurring problems

(1 out of 5) by Garth Faries on Jan 11, 2004 (Denton, MA USA)
I have had this player for right at a year and have used it maximum of 15 times and then it all of a sudden got the same error code as everyone else H02 From what I understand I might as well throw this away oin the garbage after paying 280 dollars as it is not worth more than 60 dollars know.

Read the reviews

I bought this DVD a little over a year ago. I should have read the reviews before I bought it because I would have saved my money. It worked great for a while but it suddenly died on me. I bought a dvd cleaner but it does not even read it, all I get is an H02 error and then it stops.

Panasonic dvd players in general are not worth the effort

(1 out of 5) by Michael Green on Dec 3, 2005
I have had this for a couple of years. It went dead after the first year. I held on to it for sentimental reasons. I replaced it with a panasonic, s 25, it died after a years worth of use. That is it, if it isn't sony or magnavox, I will not be purchasing it. I have wasted over 300 dollars on these two dvd players. That is a 150 dollar a year fee to watch my dvds. If my new magnavox goes bad, then I will heading back to VHS!

This DVD player played great, but then it just went dreadful over night. I tried cleaning it with one of those cleaning discs, but this player won't even read it. It gives me an h05 or h03 error; I can't tell the difference. I will learn to start doing more research and read more reviews before I keep throwing money down the drain.
