Where's the speakerphone

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 17, 2002
When I purchased the 29893GE1 speakerphone I was impressed with all the features. Everything worked good, my wife liked our old AT&T., speakerphone more because the speaker had a clearer sound. After about a week the speakerphone volume would grow faint while we we're talking to someone. We were unable to adjust the volume and the trouble shooting guide offered no help. So, we are returning the unit and we will try the AT&T957.

Would be perfect if only it's display was backlit! As is:bad

What were the designers thinking? I can only read the phone display if all lights are on. If the display was backlit this would be the perfect phone. Oh well. I'm returning it.

This has been a disppointment from the first moment

The best thing about this phone is that it has broken 15 months after we bought it. Thank heavens! Now we can toss it out without guilt.

One of the big annoyances with this phone is that it's blinking lights aren't terribly logical. It has two, one to indicate that you got a call, and the other to indicate that you have a new message. But the "New Call" light is HUGE and blinks every time the phone rings, even if you answered it. It is as if the phone says, "Deal With Me!" Every single time it ever rings. It is annoying to have to press a button every time the phone has rung just to make it stop shouting at me.

A much smaller light blinks when there is a new message, and is just red to indicate the phone is on. Here I can understand a blinking light when you have a new message. Oddly enough, the light is smaller and less noticable than that New Call Light.

And did I mention that the caller ID mostly refuses to display who is calling? Sometimes on about the fourth ring it will flash the name of the person, but rarely before, and only sometimes. I am paying, what, $7 per month to the phone company for caller ID but the phone won't give up the information. It does, however, capture the name and number of the caller if I don't ever answer the phone.

Don't even think about it

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 7, 2003
Got it a while back and was very unhappy about it. I went from using a SONY phone to a GE phone and had so much regrets. The quality is really bad. Not worth the dollar you are planning to spend. If you need a spare phone, I recommend getting those simple ones with no bells or whistles for $10.

Don't do it!

(1 out of 5) by Lisa Starrantino on Dec 2, 2002 (Long Island, NY)
This was the worst purchase I ever made! Although the phone had all the features that I was looking for, the caller id feature only works when it wants it. I thought I had a defective product so I exchanged it, only to find the next one did the same thing. Don't waste your money!
