I have one of these phones, and actually wanted to purchase another one! I read the reviews left by others and felt I had to write a review because I have had a totally different experience with this phone! IT HAS BEEN GREAT! We have had this phone for several years; the sound quality has been excellent.. messages left for us are clear, our message still sounds fine after several years, the speaker phone tone quality is excellent... I can't say enough good things about this phone and believe me I am very picky when it comes to phones! Either we managed to get the only good one of this model, or the only ones writing reviews are the individuals with complaints. We have been very pleased with this phone; so pleased, in fact, that I want to purchase one for my mom. It's easy to use, works great, has good sound quality, has held up well over the years.. What more can I say?

We have had this item for less than a year. The answerer stopped working. Trouble shooting tips says, "Unplug power cord from the outlet and plug it back in". Simply, that doesn't correct the problem. Calling the 1-800 number does not give satisfactory information. It gives you a regular phone number to call for additonal help. That could be expensive. Over all, without usable trouble shooting advice, it's unsatisfactory.

I have been more than satisfied with this GE phone. I purchased it nearly three years ago, and it has worked fine ever since. It is easy to use and program. Prior to finding this phone I purchased several others but returned them because of poor sound quality or other draw backs. I was in the process of ordering another phone like this one (as a gift) when I came upon several less favorable reviews. I was surprised since I have been so pleased with it. Maybe I've just been lucky. Or, perhaps, dissatisfied customers might be more motivated to write reviews than satisfied customers. (Note: I do not have caller ID and thus have not used those functions of this phone.)

Sadly, like others here, I've been screwed over by GE on this phone.

Worse than others though, we got two of them at once and BOTH don't work.

Symptoms: Like everyone else, after a period of time we found that it would stop recording a message after 5 - 10 seconds, leave no record that anyone called, and fail to keep the message even when the message was shorter than that window.

I work in technology so I did extensive troubleshooting on this and am confident that the problem simply is that both of these are defective.

Of course, it's been long enough that we don't have the receipts since it seemed to work at first.

So: my advice:

1. Don't buy this model of phone.
2. Don't buy any phone from GE.

I hope someone from GE's phone division actually reads these reviews someday. Nice work guys, really. Sure, you got US$60 out of me and gave me nothing in return...you won that one. But, I'll be sure to steer clear of your stuff whenever I can from now on.

And now I'm off to scan the reviews to find something that's designed to actually work.

I wanted a corded phone with caller id display and digital answering machine. This product had all these at a good price. BUT, the static on the phone is awful. Can't hear incoming calls. It's going back to the store. Don't be taken in by the features.
