This product is horrible; the sound from speakers is 10 times less than a normal laptop has. I seriously suggest this is the worst ever product made by sony.

This is exactly what I wanted. Passive speakers don't draw electricity and therefore the light bill is lower. If you think power save saves $$, try turning your whole computer system off at the power strip, including speakers, modem, monitor, for one month and look at the difference in your bill. :-)

I got the speakers for the laptop. I was hoping for better sound. The quality of the speakers is such, that I get better sound from the laptop itself. They may be good for other things, but definitely not for my laptop.

I have been using these passive speakers for more than 2 years now I suppose and have had NO problems what so ever with it.

1. It does not need external power source to listen music.
2. Just enough wattage so you can listen to it from anywhere in the room.
3. Extremely reliable - fact that I have been using it for 2 years.
4. Extremely compact as both the speakers can be assembled together and long enough chord for flexibility.

I wanted to watch movies on my laptop and get more sound that it gives. What a waste of $10 plus $5 shipping!!! There's almost no sound coming out of these speakers. My laptop built-in speakers are much louder and clearer than these. Please don't believe the five-star reviews! These speakers are such a waste of time and money.
