perfect 2nd TV

(5 out of 5) by William Bauers on Nov 1, 2001 (ambler, PA United States)
I bought this a week ago. I have it in the bedroom. The picture is really clear and the sound is great. Plus I can play my audio CD's through the DVD player as well. This is my second Toshiba, my other is the 36", I've had that for 3 years with no problems at all.

i bought this tv for my bedroom and it is perfect! the picture is very clear and the convenience of the dvd combo allows more room for vcr/video game connections. this tv is great for a college student who has discovered the world of dvd.

YES YOU CAN SEE ANY CLOSED-CPATIONED

(5 out of 5) by Hsu Mon Chu on May 4, 2002 (Taipei, Taiwan)
An earlier review indicated that you don't get to see the caption with a closed-captioned DVD while you do with a regular TV show. But mine works on both! I just bought the complete first season set of "friends" and am enjoying the show itself as well as the caption.

For the price, I don't think you can find anything better. You get a good picure quality TV and a DVD player in one machine. What's left to complain? I originally bought it based on my years of trust and good experience with toshiba and two positive reviews. Now if I ever have to buy another one, I'd absolutely get the exact same one. Almost perfect. Plus, delivery right to your front door from amazon. No time wasting, no lifting, no trouble at all.

It's true it's quite selective when it comes to vcds. It doesn't seem to read certain vcds. But it reads cds and cd-roms very well, with excellent sound quality.

Never regret I bought it. It's totally worth the money.

Good Value

(4 out of 5) by Alfred F. Staffeld on Mar 20, 2002 (Washington, DC)
When I decided that I needed a new TV for my Florida room, I looked for something that was nice but not as expensive as the TV I had in my main room. I chose this model. To my surprise, when my friends visit they go on and on about how nice the TV looks and how great the picture is. And wow, when you throw in the built-in DVD player, they just can't believe it. I mean, a good DVD player will cost you much more. So, just do the math.

Of course, time will answer some other things-- What if the built-in DVD player breaks? But I have great faith in Toshiba products. I have a rating of 4 stars, only because I believe that no product is perfect.

Great picture, bad ergonomics

(3 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 23, 2002
I picked this TV up the other day, it looked great and worked well. However the remote control is very badly laid out. For instance you will never find the volume control in the dark unless you memorize exactly how many buttons down and over it is. Also there is no mute control. There is no SVideo in. Worst of all for me was that out of the three universal remotes I tried for it none would work. I returned the TV the day after I purchased it.
