Fragile cover

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 16, 2003
After 4 months of using this fax machine at a rate of 2 faxes per month, the plastic tabs that hold the cover down broke off. If you want to have a machine where you need a LOT of duct tape to hold it together, then this is the one for you...Otherwise, I would spend the extra and get a machine that can really "hold its own"

mediocre all around

...it jams frequently when trying to send a fax (I find myself having to stand next to it and feed papers through a lot.) It works well receiving though and the print and copy quality is OK. It's [an inexpensive]fax machine - you get what you pay for.

poor design

This fax machine suffers from multiple problems. First of all it gets all sorts of paper jams when it sucks in more than one page. When sending a fax, same problem, you have to manually feed it the first page. The quality of the printout leaves much to be desired. This is due to the heat transfer paper that it uses instead of inkjet. You never know when the roll of ink paper is going to 'suddenly run out'. Sometimes in the middle of a 7 page fax. The machine saves the fax, and then when you replace the roll, it will print out the whole seven page fax again! Thereby wasting more ink! With our old inkjet, atleast we knew when the ink was getting low because the faxes would start to get lighter. Our is now broken on one side, and will not close properly. I think this happened during one of them many paper jams we have had. We have fixed it with some duck tape while we look for a new fax machine. Its a cheap machine. You get what you pay for.

Great for Home Office!

(4 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Feb 6, 2002 (Hawley, Pennsylvania United States)
I found this machine to be easy to set up, more than adequate functionally. It contained all the features I was looking for and has helped me immensely with job searches. Managers are always impressed when I tell them, "I can fax my resume right over..." The price and functions were just what I was seeking. If you want a corporate quality, reliable fax machine in a small home office unit, this be the one!

Don't buy Pansonic fax machine KX-FPC161

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Aug 20, 2002
Panasonic KX-FPC161
This fax machine is poorly designed, having an obvious design flaw on a clip inside the unit that keeps the top closed.
I had one break and the service from panasonic was extremly poor.
No parts were available at all- backordered to Japan & no mention of when they would arrive.
I fought them long enough to finally get a new machine, then the same part broke again.
Faulty design, poor service & warranty- DONT BUY FROM PANASONIC
