lid holder is too fragile and breaks easily.

(1 out of 5) by Perry J. McNeal on Sep 8, 2002 (Roswell, Ga. United States)
We use our fax occasionally and found this unit to be unsatisfactory. Soon after the ninety day warranty expired the plastic housing parts that hold the lid top broke off and couldn't be found for gluing. We tried fixing it with small screws but the action of the fax put too much pressure on the screws and that broke as well. We threw it in the trash and bought a new machine with a one year warranty and a strong lid catch system.

Very Satisfied

I got this machine for Christmas and have had no problem with it. I have had excellent luck with the faxes and copies. I'm not sure if the other people got lemons, but I think it's great.

Quite satisfied with this machine

I've been quite pleased with this inexpensive home fax/copier since I got it a week ago. Setup went without a hitch (I was surprised). I had a question about what phone line to use and Panasonic tech support was pleasant and competent in answering my question. I've had NO problems at all with any of the features I've used including auto answer and I've had no paper jams. Fax quality is quite acceptable using plain laser/typing paper. This has proven to be a perfect machine for my home user needs. While someone else may have gotten a lemon, I have zero complaints.

DO NOT BUY THIS FAX MACHINE!!!!

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jan 23, 2004 (New York, NY United States)
Plastic tab broke off after 6-months of very light use. Total piece of crap product. Read the rest of the consumer reviews below, and you will see that virtually everyone who has posted here has had the same exact problem. Once the tab breaks -- and TRUST ME, it WILL break -- the machine is rendered useless.

Don't buy this machine

(1 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on May 31, 2003
The most frustrating thing about this machine is that it's very difficult to install new toner--which should be a simple thing. I, too, have had a small piece break off inside that causes the cover to stay open so I can not send or receive faxes.

Also, the paper feeder is not reliable if faxing more than one or two sheets. They get jammed. Save money down the line and buy a Hewlett-Packard.
