Small Price Big Performance

(5 out of 5) by Brian McEnulty on Dec 20, 2001 (Warrenton, Oregon)
I was looking for a decent set of maybe 2 speakers and a subwoofer for my price range but then I came across this 4.1 surround sound set. (...)There had to be something wrong with them but as soon as I hooked them up the sound was so crisp and clear! I highly recommend these speakers to anyone. Buy them while there still in stock!

high quality for low price

I didnt think these speakers were going to be this powerful and sound this great, especially if you have a sound card that supports 4.1 surround sound.a must buy for those looking for a great deal for a great product.

Stay away from these

(2 out of 5) by Ezralini on Sep 12, 2002 (NYC United States)
I don't understand how there are such mixed reviews. I get the feeling that the people writing the positive reviews didn't try to play anything loud or very bassy. The bass speaker, first of all, not like the desciption, is not shielded, there's a big sticker on it when you get it that says so. The volume controls are dials on one of the satellites, inconvenient if you want to wall mount all the spakers, and the front right and front left speaker wires are quite short. Don't forget that they only give you mounting brackets for two of the satellites. There are other models with separate volume control, which I find much more stylish and convenient. These arguments are all nothing compared to its poor sound quality. At top volume, it's not all that loud, it's loud, but not enough. In addition, the bass becomes fuzzy at around 80% volume. In all honesty, if you keep the volume at a medium, it sounds fine, but I like the immersive feeling you get from loud volume. I'm pretty sure I am going to return these.

Many alternatives available at the market

(1 out of 5) by S. Lam on Jul 21, 2004 (Oakland, CA United States)
I bought this product (cost 40) for company use (that's why it's cost 40) base on coworker's recommendation from another office. The quality is disappointed after I installed & tested it. It's not shielded so the interference is quite a serious problem, but I won't get blame afterall since this is not my decision.
Don't be fool by the 4.1 speakers, compare to my another set of 2.1 speakers (cost 20) it's not impressing at all.
There are many good speakers out there, do your researching and will happy with what you got.

you get what you pay for

subwoofer should not be called that: it's tiny, and distorts if the slightest bass is put through it. Not good for music, not good for gaming. Steer clear.
