Nice product until it has a problem

(3 out of 5) by ko.denscin on Jan 22, 2004 (baltimore md)
I have this system it is only a Yr and a half old about a week after the warrenty went up it went up.It started to spit cd's out not play dvd's and sometimes not give us back the disk that we put in.Pioneer was nice enough to extend the warrenty.Well 4 months after having it fixed it started doing the same thing again,I called pioneer 2 times and each time they refused to do anything,Finally after speaking with a super visor and exlaning that for a product that is not even 2 yrs old and having to be fixed 2 times in 4 months this is not a good thing. She agreed with me and since the product is doing the same thing again they are fixing it again at their cost.I wanted to post this review so that you can make the right choice on your electronic purchase this was quite expensive when i bought it and feel that it should not need to be repaired 2 times in 4 months,so be careful.

Big sound, small source

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Jun 1, 2002 (Madison Heights, MI United States)
I just got this system a couple weeks ago, and already I'm very impressed. The picture and sound are very impressive. As already mentioned the remote is cumbersome, but I'm beginning to adapt. What I really like is that the display is seperate from the unit. I can place the display on top of the TV, and hide the unit away from the curious hands of my 16 month old. Also appreciated is the midnight function which is helpful when you want full sound when the little one is asleep. Plus my wife appreciates the compact size and attractive design.

One minor dislike is that the cord connecting the subwoofer to the unit is proprietary, and only a couple feet long, so it pretty much dictates your subwoofer placement. Other than that I completely recommend this system.

Amazing!

(5 out of 5) by Jose Eduardo da Rocha Azevedo on Jul 6, 2001 (São Paulo, SP Brazil)
Small, nice looking, cleverly designed, full featured, plays CDs, CDRs, CDRWs, AM/FM, DVDs with DTS and DD 5.1 sound, has a subwoofer that shakes my sofa, power enough to bore my neighbors, fidelity enough to make me think someone is entering the room while it's actually one of the DD 5.1 channels in action. The image is top, specially on the Cinema mode. Hard to beat. The DVD mechanism is fast enough to make everything mostly instantaneous (loading, navigating, chapter changes). I've searched a lot before buying (Sony DAV S300, 2 models from Panasonic, Onkio) and am sure I picked the best. It saved me lots of space (sold my stereo mini-system and my previous Pioneer DV 414), looks as any overpriced DVD (it's not progressive scan, though), sounds as goos as many component systems I could have added to my previous DVD/TV. Couldn't be happier. Join the club.
