Bravo Panasonic! The hype is true!

After reading the glowing reviews, I eagerly bought this CD player as a birthday gift/ workout companion for my husband. I was NOT disappointed!
This sleek CD player weighs half the weight of a walkman, gets 35 hours of playback on 2AA batteries [6 are included], and comes with a remote control [!!!], quality headphones, and a black soft case "jogger pouch" with belt.
So does it skip??? When used as intended -- Aerobics, Walking, Jogging -- I experienced no skips. In fact, I had to shake it violently with both hands ON PURPOSE to even get it to skip. My husband however found that it skips when he starts running at 6 MPH on the treadmill.
In short, it's not perfect, but it's darn close. The headphones fit comfortably. The "crayon sized" remote control with clip makes adjusting volume or selection a simple push of a button. [No more stopping workouts to adjust actual player settings manually!] And the black jogger case is sporty and adequate. [Although the belt, made of an elastic spongy material, looks like it may last a year at most of rigorous workouts.] With the SLSX286J, Panasonic has done a great job of anticipating its customers' wants and at the current price of $71.99, This is an exceptional deal for you definitely won't regret. Highly recommended!

Good CD player, good value: Panasonic SLSX286J

It sounds pretty good through the supplied headphones, but it's not 5-star sound.
It doesn't skip in my normal use (daily commute), it's lightweight, so far (not quite 3 months) it's reliable. The remote is easyo use and has all the functions I need -- including a "hold" button that works independently of the hold button on the main unit.
I use the AC adapter (included) when I listen to it at work, so the batteries only get used for about 5-10 hours/week. I'm still using the last of the three pairs of batteries that are also included -- this player really does run a long time on 2 AAs.
My only nit is that the controls on the main unit are arranged in small clusters, and require a little care to use.
I like it enough, especially for the price, that I bought a second one, for my wife.

Best deal out there

The one thing I don't hear too much in reviews,of less expensive players,is about the quality of sound. The most important item seems to be if it skips or not. I am fussy about the sound so with this model I took a chance. It sounds great! The earphones were better than I thought they would be also. The inline control is a must and this one is very usable. All features with this player are relevant and work. Even the bass boost. So are there better sounding players for 3 times as much? I hope so. For twice the price? I didn't find any. But for 50 bucks you can't beat this. I have some high end equipment at home and this model is in the ball park. If you want louder and a more distinct sound you have to buy some better earphones. Bring the player to the store and compare with the ones that came with the player. If the new ones don't sound louder then don't buy them! The phones may cost near the price of the player but that is the case with any other player out there. I got some Grado's for 40$. Sony has a set for around the same price. The sensitivity and base response is what you pay for, but your ears are the guide. If you don't need super loudness then the ones with the player may be fine. Oh, and I haven't found that it skips either.
